My son has a constant headache, then intermittant others. The strong ones he says he feels a "pop" then a warm tingly sensation (sometimes it is cold not hot). All he can do is fall asleep. Anyone else have this?
Just got his EEG reports, bc dr thought maybe these were petit mal seizures. Results were "normal". |

Do not ignore when your brain screams "rest!"
Sleeping lots is normal.

Where does he feel the pop? I bet it is at the back of his head. I get some tingly feeling that I can sort of tie to my upper neck. If the blood flow is restricted, it can cause the sleepy feeling.
Has he had any serious assessment of his neck? Not just an x-ray but a fine slice CT or MRI. Or, some head and neck traction therapy by a PT?

I do appreciate that and wish he slept more! He only sleeps for a few minutes after each intense headache, like he can't help it.

Mark,
no specific tests on neck, I'll ask about that. The popping ones tend to be around the crown of his head or just above the ears. These are the reason we took him back out of school. The back of his head hurts from reading (then the visual changes, mostly colors).

Do you mind me asking what colors he sees? I had a problem after my accident where i saw a lot of green. If i shut my eyes, i saw green (and it was too bright and hurt to shut them, so didnt sleep for many days). I had a recurrent green spider in my vision, and sometimes my vision went completely green randomly.
In eastern medicine, Green is the color of the heart chakra and color of healing, which i thought was very interesting. A lot of my neuro patients complain of seeing bright green when they shut there eyes. Quote:

MRI and CT negative. Symptoms included constant headaches (migraine, pressure, tension, icepicks), dizziness, tinnitus, visual changes, photophobia, fatigue, "spacing out", word finding difficulties, depression, and emotional lability. Began Healing in November 2011 after starting acupuncture and Healing Touch (a nurturing energy therapy that promotes relaxation and pain relief). I went back to work in February 2012. Ive been symptom free since July 2012. Very happy, positive, energetic and working out every day, doing yoga, and living a normal life again! I also began taking Healing Touch classes in November 2011 and completed 5 Levels of Healing Touch Certificate Program that included a 1 year mentorship to become a Healing Touch International Practitioner in June 2013. I am so pleased to offer this wonderful healing therapy to my patients, friends, and clients. |

One thing I've noticed about my headaches, just before they go away I'll feel sleepy. But only for about 15 minutes, then the headache is gone. Forcing myself to sleep doesn't work, I have to wait for that sleepiness to come on by itself. When it does I pretty much know the headache is almost through.
Green is indeed the basic color of healing. I see it a lot. It can also be the color of a new growth period.

the most common report from him is white turns to green, then red, then black, then he has to sleep. This happens during too much stimulation while trying to focus. Hasn't happened (that i know of) since we took him back out of school.

I have had terrible headaches combined with extreme tiredness, and felt that 'all I can do is go to sleep' as the pain is so bad. When I wake up it is much better. These even occurred when I was relatively well recovered, working part-time in a fairly functional way. I guess it was my brain telling me to stop for a while.

I find when I lay down and try to rid the headaches I will drift for about 15 minutes. I'm not sure why I dont stay asleep. I think it's the noises in my head that wake me up. Poor kid. I send you my best.
