Esthersdoll,
Thanks for leaving your post up. I found it very helpful to see I am not alone with family challenges. Also to know that someone who is always so positive and upbeat can still be angry and frustrated by the injury and it's consequences made me feel a little less alone and lost while trying to navigate. Mark, Thanks for your post on how to survive social situations. I'm going to work on a list like that too, maybe on my iPhone since I lose paper regularly but have managed not to permanently lose my phone... Yet!! Starr |

Kim,
Hey, I was just stopping by to check my PM's and I noticed your post about a setback. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. I know your a strong, confident, positive (and many other great things) person and I just know you'll make it through this. Don't let this setback hold you down. I'm glad you came and vented/posted about it. I would write more but I'm so wrapped up in therapy everyday, I hardly have time to breathe!!! Keep your head up, Nick

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI. Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain. Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms. Slowly but surely regaining my life back. |

Thanks again everyone!
Recovering from PCS and head injuries is tough; we all know that, even on the best of days. I'm doing better now. I'm still not doing as well as I was before the setback, but I'll get there - it's good to just know that from previous experience because it makes this time going through it less awful. Thanks again for all of your support! I appreciate it a LOT! |
