My oldest son is the only one who doesn't live nearby. I see him about twice a year and talk to him at least monthly. He was here for Mother's Day. He says it may be easier for him to see changes because he is not here or talking to me daily.
He insists my conversations are much better than our last visit in October. He says he can see a look in my eyes when I am struggling to find and put words together. He says I make more sense and my words/sentences are coming together much faster. He says I still come across more intelligent than 99% of people! So even though I don't necessarily see improvement I guess there is some.

It's hard sometimes to see our own progress, esp when we are frustrated that we are still not doing the things we used to... but having someone who can see changes over a long period of time... that's great!

Feb 24, 2012 - Slipped on a large puddle of ice at work, hitting the back of my head. No loss of consciousness, so I assumed I'd be back at work within a few days. I was wrong. When resting, symptoms are low. With exertion, I still suffer from fatigue, migraines, vision problems, problems thinking or reading, troubles sleeping, issues finding or getting words to my mouth when the headaches are bad, tinnitus, and thyroid issues which I think are due to the concussion. Seen one specialist, and now a few others through insurance review of my case. Hoping for further treatment. |

I'm glad to hear that your son was seeing improvement! I experienced similar when I went to my neuropsych appointment; maybe if you feel it suits you, try to use that memory to keep you from getting frustrated when you feel like you aren't progressing like you think you should! (thats what seems to be helping me at least)
Hang in there and congrats! ![]()

Hi Roadrunner,
I see you are in Central KY. I had rehab at Cardinal Hill in Lex, KY. Inpatient and outpatient. It really helped me, and helped me return to full time employment afterwards. I was also able to retire from National Guard with 24 years service. I hope you are doing well, and that your recovery is good. Take Care, Dodi |

I'm glad there are some improvements. It's very difficult to see changes when they are not significant.
Have you gotten any therapy? I benefitted greatly from going to weekly speech therapy sessions for months; that's when I started seeing significant changes/improvements in my cognitive functioning. |
