I do not wish to intrude but I have a personal injury claim going against my employer after I hit my head on the corner of a metal barrier above my right eye. Life as I knew it came to a halt with all the same symptoms we're all experiencing. My work virtually admitted liability as the director tried to claim for my accident on the work insurance!
I have 2 kids aged 10 and 12 who have been amazing but I am on minimal sick pay and have no idea if I will be able to drive or support my family again.
It would help me to know how others progressed with personal injury payouts and how long it took to reach whatever comp figure you ended up with.
Any advice on this thread or by pm very much appreciated.

Here in the States, anybody injured at work is stuck with the limits of the Workers Compensation system. It is a no fault system that does not require the employer to be declared liable. The insurance is paid based on payroll and job risks. The employer avoids liability and the employee gets severe limits on legal fees thus their recovery is just as limited. They can not receive any pain and suffering nor any punitive damages. It rarely properly covers disability losses.

I guess the timeline is based on the severity of the injury. If it was a minor injury then it could be sorted within a few months but by your description it could be longer -sorry to mention it but it could be years. Have a look at the

If your employer has admitted liability your legal advisor may be able to get an interim payment to help you along. The other thing to look into is Disability Living Allowance (DLA) which is an additional benefit that you may be entitled to. the Benefitandwork website has some good advice on how to complete the forms. The guidance also may be useful to those outside of the UK because it gives practical examples to fact finding questions which may assist with a claim

e.g. "do you need help taking medication" rather than Yes / No

It will say something like. "My partner has to give me my medication 4 times a day becuase I can't remember if I have taken it already had may take an overdose".
