I don't know exactly what type of headache it is, but I can tell you I get one too...So much that I have stopped running for a while.
Maybe it is the exertion, or the footfalls? I am still unsure about this, too! Sorry it wasn't an answer...

I'm in the same boat with anything exertion or abdominal exercise related: golf, bowling, core work, intense yoga, cycling, running, and swimming. My neurologist had been kind enough to put a label on it (exertion induced migraine), however like many other things brain injury related, can't find the exact cause other than "concussion" and "pcs". MRI / CT / MRA / other tests have been clear for biostructural defect. Boo. I have found that Naratriptan does work to get rid of the severe headache within two hours. Sadly, insurance will only pay for 8 - 5.0 mg tabs within a 30 day period. I'm trying to learn race walking to provide fitness and it's tough to learn, looks silly as hell, but I get no headache ![]()

May 31, 2009: Concussion from syncope due to low blood volume resulting from severe dehydration. Occurred after finishing my 9th marathon. 100% of symptoms cleared by August 2009. December 15, 2009: Major surgery due to diverticulitis. 6 weeks after surgery, dizziness, fog, cognitive difficulty, anxiety, some panic, lots of headache. These symptoms largely gone, but still cannot exercise above a very low threshold otherwise resulting in severe headache and cognitive fog. Same for overwhelming odors. Meds: Nortriptyline and Naratriptan as needed to rid severe headaches (exertional migraines). |

postconcussion,
I can tell what my footfall or footplant is doing to my head by running with foam ear plugs in. You may be able to connect the sound of your footplant to a matching feeling in your head. If you try this, you may be able to get a better picture of whether it is a cause of your head aches. Taking your blood pressure and pulse can also help with this. By limiting your max heart rate and BP, you be able to prevent the head ache. I doubt there is any other way to tell.

About 6 years ago I suffered a head injury that knocked me unconcious since then I had experienced a severe headache while running as well as vision problems. After my last head injury in August I was informed by my neurologist that I couldn't play compettitve sports and that I shouldn't run anymore. He told me that when I run the bouncing and shaking can cause me to have a minor concussion especially if I go too hard too fast. Since august I have not ran it kills me not too but I can't risk anything right now.

Hugs to you Jaystar89. I understand and am heading in the same direction...not sure if I am willing to risk another concussion in martial arts...I am going through withdrawal too!! ( i have also been told I shouldn't run)
![]() What are you doing if anything, to stay in shape/beat the no hardcore exercise blues?
