Default Too early to tell, having a down day

I recieved my cuncussion only several weeks ago. At work a large door in the ceiling came down and hit me in the back of the neck and skull. After some inquiries I figured out the impact at +2200 pounds. Sounds like alot but I do not suffer nearly as bad as many of the threads I have read. Pretty sensless actually as a safety protocol was ignored and an accident occured. Yes I sought legal advice, had to actually, the co. I work for was railroading me right back to work. Did not actually get a work restriction until after my second ER visit and first hospital stay. Some of the symptoms of a mild TBI expeirences still occur. Probably the worst for me is not knowing if I will return to work or not. I almost hope not, as the co. I work for is NOT employee friendly and I am certain this will end my employment of thirteen+ years. At 50 and blue collar not sure what I can do. Before I worked with PLCs, electronics, controllers and computers. Now all the Dr restrictions allow is very light gardening which gives me a thumping bad headache after an hour. I know the intellect and expierence that earned me my living is compromised I am just unsure if it is temporary and/or what degree. Sick and tired of waiting, doubting and worrying. Thanks for allowing me to be heard. If it was not for this website I would have felt completely alone in this awful expeirence.

Cuncussion with 30 minutes or less unconciousness

Hi, welcome. This forum will answer loads of your questions and we are all in this together. My accident was in February and my symptoms came on 3 weeks later and I too have been off work since as there is no chance of me being able to cope with any of the light duties available and my employers are not at all understanding but are now running scared and leaving me alone as they know they may well be liable for a settlement.

Please hang on in there and try not to dwell on what you can and can't do compared to before. Its a strange journey but we're all on it xx

TBI and PCS symptoms all came about 3 weeks after an accident at work in February 2012 when I hit my head on the corner point of a metal barrier at brisk walking pace.

Life as I knew it came to a shuddering halt that day. 20 year history of depression and anxiety now coupled with memory issues, personality change, speech and communication problems, ringing ears, impulsivity etc etc etc.

Damaged people are dangerous.....they know they can survive!

rmschaver,

As you note, you are still early. You functions are still unstable. They could actually get worse over the next month then start a recovery process. There are plenty of skills you can learn to utilize your intelligence and previously learned skills. Right now, the 'only light gardening' is to keep the mental workload on your brain to a minimum. Anxiety puts a high workload on your brain. The gardening was to give you something to do that had a light mental load.

If you can find some light activities to keep busy with, you will do much better. Only you can determine what light activities are.

Your recovery will depend on your ability to rest your mind.

My best to you.
