Spent the last couple of days trying to digest information I got this week...
Did testing last week with Neuropsych. Got results Tuesday. My IQ has taken a beating. I can deal with that. What has been affected is my ability to make decisions and my vision. Still have issues with word finding and short term memory but I'm pretty bummed about the other. I'm glad to know that I'm not losing my mind about my vision. I could tell I had some changes but I didn't know why...I should have known. The other problem is decision making. I've always done really well with that. I worked in law enforcement that depended on quick decisions and also plan review which of course was very detailed work. I'm in college now. I don't know what to do. Kind of at a crossroads.

tamisue,
I am confused. You said <Still have issues with word finding and short term memory but I'm pretty bummed about the other.> What is 'the other?' What is the question you have? What kind of test scored your decision making? Was it that you are slow to make decisions or make errant decisions? As I said, I am confused. Here to try to help. My best to you.

After my TBI (a cleat to the face in a soccer game), my quick recall was horrible, say if i was asked, "whatd you have for lunch?", id go blank, its like walls would go up. I knew the information was in there, i just apparently wasnt allowed to access it. If i tried to remember id get hot, and get an immedate head ache and, sometimes break down beacause i felt like i was going crazy. i could remember, i could figure it out if i had to, it would just take time, and some effort.
It sucks not having control of your brain, when you loose grip on whats real. Im almost 3 months out, and its gotten better. Not great yet, but better. I still have lapses, those are bad, it feels like its starting all over again. But its not. Thank god. Time is the only thing that really helps. Time. And A LOT of sleep. Jordan. |

Apparently writing cohesive sentences too.....
![]() Sorry-bummed about the decision making and the vision. The worst part for me is word finding. As a black belt in sarcasm it kinda throws you off your game when you can't find the right word...or type it... I don't know which direction to go now. Still going to go to school but just have some decisions to make about the future...like everybody else. The decision making aspect-I've always been quick to make a decision-right, wrong, or indifferent but now I find myself second guessing and not being able to make a decision as quickly. Mark-not exactly sure what all testing. I was there for about 6 hours-ending with the Minnesota. Dr said psychologically no problems he was concerned about which is good for me. I am going to check into vision therapy and see if I can get some help there.
