Default benadryl

I took benadryl for allergy symptoms and found it to lessen my headache. Searching around online I saw that it is given for migraines but could not find the rationale.

Did it help because of the inflammation that I have?

People mentioned the their doctor said it potentiates pain pills.

Also people said that people with migraine have generally higher levels of histamine.

Any opinions or experiences ? Please and Thank you!

It sounds like you should follow the standard of allopathic medicine. If a drugs is tried and it helps, keep using it. If the side effects create a problem worse than the symptoms the med resolves, then other options should be considered.

In your case, if the drowsiness from the Benadryl is not a problem, then just be careful to follow long term use guidelines on the container. Benadryl can also help with insomnia. A call to your doctor's office may be worthwhile to confirm long term use guidelines.

I suggest you use the Benadryl as little as possible to avoid any negative impact it may have on your recovery.

Isn't Benadryl used recreationally to "space out" and make you go a bit delerious?

I would not take it with PCS if I were you. There are other antihistamines like Loratadine or Cetirizine (sp?) which are safer. But check with your GP.

Default Benadryl is a good pill

Benadryl is a good pill to use as rescue therapy for migraine. Puts people to sleep that when the hypnotics effect has ran it course the headache is therefore gone.
