Hey guys,
You all say you have Tinnutitis. Is this when you hear music that you know is not real or buzzing, ringing noises? Or is that auditory hallucinations? Whatever it is I have that to. Oh well, at least it is rock music I hear. Thank the lord for small favors. If I had Willy Nelson or something going off I would be insane. Brain

Tinnitus is the common ringing in the ears. You will hear it after a very loud sound. Many of us with PCS have chronic tinnitus. My ears have been ringing for decades. I have even gone so far as to determine the pitch. On a piano keyboard, my tinnitus is just above C6# or C#6 About 1000 htz
The only remedy is to learn to ignore it. Getting annoyed only makes it worse as the mind focuses on it. Sometimes, it will lessen or even go away. Mine only varies in volume. Sometimes, it is very loud, especially right after I have consumed a cool liquid.

Some sounds of Tinnitus:
Tinnitus Mine is a treble combination of 3 ranges mostly... quiet, but when stressed will override even loud radio on Led Zeppelin.

I have tinnitus 24/7 since my accident and I also hear music from time to time. It is apparently quite common but people don't want to admit it in case others think they are....'crazy'. It is the same thing as tinnitus, where the brain creates sounds that don't exist. I don't get Willie Nelson...some classical and differentiated pop! It is weird, but I enjoy it more than the constant high pitch I have.
Have downloaded an ipad desensitization aop which is based on new research from Germany. Desperate, I guess! Good luck!

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺). Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky! Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance. |

Thank goodness it's not just me. I hear things no one else does. People talking, music, and oddly enough a squeaky toy. I do feel odd saying that because it doesn't sound normal. But to me none of my symptoms are normal. I still haven't accepted how I am. I think it's beginning to hit me and I want to freak out at times.

Thanks. I to hear people talking sometimes. It is always like old conversations my mom and sister had. They always talk real loud on the phone and it bothers me. I was afraid to mention that part because of the crazy factor. Yeah, the music is the best. At least preferable to buzzing, ringing or conversation of mom and sister. It makes me really nauseated.

Along with many other symptoms, I too developed tinnitus after my car accident. An ENT recommended that I try Lipo-Flavonoid. It helped to reduce the episodes of tinnitus. This supplement did make me feel agitated and irritable, but I continued with the treatment for several months, as I was seeing some results from it. I discontinued it after the tinnitus subsided. I still get occasional episodes when I am very tired, over-worked, or don't get enough sleep, but I don't have the tinnitus 24/7 anymore.

LOL about Willie Nelson!
Mine seems to be more like Mark's moderating in intensity based on sleep, stress, and other factors. It's normally at a low level that I can ignore, but for me when it starts to really ramp up, I know to stop whatever I'm doing and rest or I'm headed for a migraine and a few days of recovery. I think it would be cool to hear music! The odd tonal noise I have is not very interesting haha.
