I am 8 months into pcs, and although things are slowly improving I still have that knot in my tummy feeling, (anxiety ?)
![]() It comes and goes I used to get it when I was tired or worried but now when I get it it seems to hang around for days I sometimes get pains in my tummy (bit like ibs pains). I wonder if anyone else gets this ? . Also since my injury my tummy seems to be different, it's difficult to describe, but I donot eat as much as I used to as my taste buds have changed. I was wondering if after all this time my poor old tummy is just tied up in knots ?? any advice would be welcome... Many Thanks..Hope you all good today Cx |

Could be stress/anxiety. Do you meditate? You could give that a try and see if it gets any better. As for not eating as much.. you're probably not doing as much and don't need all those calories anyhow! Your taste could definitely have been affected by the concussion too and maybe it will come back as you improve.
I'm at 8 months too and I'm just noticing some increased anxiety and chest pains. Anxiety was more of an issue at the 5 month mark and then seemed to go away so maybe it's a cyclical thing? Hope the meditating or some other form of stress release (warm bath?) is helpful. CC

I'm a 39 year old, female, accountant. On July 2, 2012 I crashed my bike at the end of a 65KM road ride. I was fine that day but woke up the next morning to my current world. Ongoing symptoms include: dizziness, blurred vision, light and noise sensitivities, cognitive problems, uncontrollable emotions/depression/anxiety, headaches (but they're getting better), mental and physical fatigue, difficulty communicating and sleep disturbances. Currently seeing a fabulous Neuro Psychologist and vestibular physiotherapist and hoping to soon see a neuro ophthalmologist. I am currently doing 20 minute stationary bike rides daily, 20 minutes of meditating, 15 minutes of Lumosity and lots of resting. I have not been able to work or drive since the accident. The things that have helped me the most since the accident are vestibular therapy, gel eye drops (for blurred vision, sensitivity and dryness), amitriptyline (10mg), and meditating. I am finally starting to see some slight improvements and am hopeful! My brain WANTS to heal itself... I just have to let it and stop trying to get better! |

Thank you for your reply. yes you could be right, maybe its a cycle thing. Are you finding the meditation is helping you ? Yes my anxiety was really bad at about 4 months, my doctor refered me to I Talk, (in uk its nhs phone therapy). it was really good and helped me a lot to reduce my anxiety levels.I did this until Beginning of January. I also go to yoga, which I started just before Xmas, this has helped with my breathing and we also do meditation. I will try to more of this, as you say I think this will help. I have a warm soak in the bath most nights with candles and a cup of chamomile tea, its heaven xx and does help a little. Guess as with everything this PCS takes its time to heal, we have to respect that and accept it. Are you finding your symptons are improving now at 8 months ? Hi Cx,
Yes I find the meditation helpful for some things. It's not a cure all but it helps! Sounds like you have relaxing down to a fine art! I find my symptoms have been slowing improving but right now some things are a bit worse. If I look back 4 months or so I've definitely come a long way but I feel I'm only at about 55% of my former self so I still have a long way to go. Time and patience! I hope you find a solution to your tummy knot. Perhaps fibre ![]() CC

Ninelives you may want to consider the PCS has affected your olfactory sense. It is not real common but does happen. Our sense of smell is a large part of the taste sensation and if it is dulled or off it can impact your appetite.
