I'm about 3 months PCS and I have been doing great this past week. Barely any symptoms other than minor grogginess and feeling a little off. No headaches or foggy thinking or anything like that. Then all of a sudden today I am extremely groggy and got a bit anxious earlier for absolutely no reason. I got 10 hours of sleep last night and did not over-exert myself recently. Is this normal to relapse on some symptoms for no reason? I'm very frustrated because I felt like I was making great progress and now I'm heading back into the wrong direction

I have recovered my cognitive function, and I've overcome severe vertigo through sensory integration therapy. Wellbutrin has helped me escape depression. I have recently had a few stress-related migraines, as well as headaches stemming from eye strain. I'm also dealing with tinnitus, lack of stamina, extreme light sensitivity, and eye pain. Diagnosed with 9 different vision issues: convergence insufficiency, pursuit eye movement deficit, egocentric visual midline shift, photophobia, visual information processing delays, accommodative insufficiency, saccadic eye movement deficit, lack of coordination, and central peripheral visual integration deficit. *First concussion: October 2010. I was pregnant and got rear ended. I associated my mild PCS symptoms with baby brain and blamed my light sensitivity on allergies and dry eyes. *Second concussion: December 2011. I hit my head on a wooden beam, saw stars but did not lose consciousness, and I had very disturbing PCS symptoms but didn't go to the doctor. *Third concussion: August 2012. I caused a car accident as a result of PCS symptoms. Thankfully no one was injured but me. My husband confronted me, and I finally sought help and took medical leave from work. My symptoms worsened, and I developed severe vertigo. *Fourth concussion: November 2012. I was riding in a car with a friend and we were hit head on by a driver who lost control of her car. I didn't have a big increase in PCS symptoms. |

Twice, I've had symptoms as the result of a change in my mEdicine. Topamax made me have facial twitches and mood swings. Too much Adderall made me lightheaded and pass out. Just making sure a medication wasn't at fault!

Costco could cause a relapse! Lights, noise, movement, lots of visual stimulation, moving head from side to side. I can go now...but it still it tough.
I would take it easy because you can still have neurochemical changes 3 months after hurting your brain. I had a good few weeks after two 1/2 months, and then a full force wham of symptoms....and the rest is history (i.e still suffering!). Rest.

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺). Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky! Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance. Last edited by Mokey; 04-14-2013 at 09:36 AM. Reason: Typo |

I agree that Costco may have been the trigger. I can be having a good day but if I go to a grocery store it almost always ruins it. Too much stimuli. And I'm at 6 months pcs.

Dear Mokey,
I've noticed that you've been taking Reversatol. What are your experiences with it? Thank you Quote:

Yes, I think Costco definitely made everything worse. I remember I just wanted to get out of there. I even felt a little anxiety in there, like I just wanted to leave. I am claustrophobic too and it was crowded that day.
I do have another question for those of you who have recovered. I have not had a headache in over a week now. I believed this to be a great step in my recovery. I have NEVER went a week since my concussion without a headache. Is no more headaches a sign that I am on the towards the end of my recovery? I still feel a little off and I do get irritable easily, but I feel better overall. Anyone have a similar type recovery where the headaches stopped but still was not 100%? |

A week without a symptom is meaningless as far as recovery goes. A few weeks without a symptom can start to mean something. These symptoms or lack of them are just trends. The longer a trend, the more it means. A week means very little except that you are learning to minimize stressors that cause head aches. Good for you.

bluehiroko,
If you are going to try all of these different substances, you need to add one at a time. Wait a few weeks to see if there is a difference then add another substance. Did you read my review of your regimen ? It is my "let's discuss nutrition..." thread.
