Ok well I just need some advice or input on some anatomy of the brain stem and how it effects other areas. So let's say you have bulging C1-C5.Well C1-C3 runs the brainstem, facial, chest, neck muscles? Am I correct? If so then read on.....would a problem with the brain stem cause jaw muscle spasms, upper body muscle spasms, chest spasms etc?I would think so but need feedback. I have had a serious decline past 2 days that I hardly can talk or eat because of pain. I do not think this is because of mental I think this it is from physical C1-C5.Feeling like a hurt chipmunk.I am back to ice/heat.I am waiting for My M.D. to get back to me over the weekend.Any feedback is greatly appreciated about the anatomy if this makes some sense...

Mark I am alternating between neck & head hot & cold and can just feel my jaw clenched.I had not had this problem since I got medicated.I have did meditation, breathing etc.I did nothing different to relapse except maybe get used to muscle relaxer.
My MRI for jaw and CBTC scan said hyperactive muscles....I am waiting to start splint therapy for jaw till Jaw M.D. gets second opinion from another M.D. I feel like any moment it is going to lock if not already!!!!

Has anybody suggested Botox for your jaw muscles ? It is a proven treatment for overactive jaw muscles. It slowly goes away but is useful for relief from the jaw clenching misery. I was given a referral to a specialist but my clenching resolved enough before I got an appointment.
The TMJ specialist could see the additional musculature and attachment bulges in my jaw. You may be able to feel a bulge below your molars on your jaw. The Botox is injected into the muscle that you feel when you clinch your jaw. Ask about it. I suggest you use ice on the back of your neck and the heat only on the jaw muscle. Your TMJ should be iced. Tough to do because the muscle is so close to the TMJ. I would choose ice over heat when in doubt. My physical therapist would go inside my mouth and paralyze the jaw muscle with myofacial release technique. She could barely get her fingers in my locked up mouth. It was painful at first but thye relief was good.

Thanks Mark I appreciate the feedback.I have one question.Do you think from this first post about the anatomy and problems are correct?
I am just trying to understand.I have had my jaw manipulated and put back before last year was unsuccessful since dislocated.I think I am going to do the botox with the jaw split therapy. My psychiatrist told me to take an extra muscle relaxer when I spoke to him.I went to sleep and woke up feeling the clench was gone ![]()
