I know this may be somewhat gauche, but I think we should help eachother out here by naming names. We have all wasted time and money with doctors who have wrongly diagnosed us with depression or anxiety or god-knows-what. I have found this to be traumatic and would like to save others from this. If you feel the same, add to my list.

I agree with posting names. I think this should be done with each speciality. I know too many people who wasted time, money, health, and sanity on doctors who are not good. ginnie

I would only suggest that you let them know how comfortable they have made you feel, and ask their permission to post that information, first.

They may have reservations on being spotlighted.

Just saying.

It is a good idea, and worthwhile, on merit.

I think Concussion is right.

This concept is a good one, but maybe rethink how you can go about it and avoid a slander suit.

Personally I don't think this is the appropriate forum for this. There are sites that do this (ratemds.com, healthgrades.com). On those types of forums you can find and rate MD's by specialty and geographic area. Here we have posters from all over the globe. I don't need a rating (good or bad) for a neurologist in the UK. This forum is supposed to foster support and discussion, I don't see where this thread accomplishes that goal.

I am familiar with one on the not helpful list and I'm not surprised. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my feelings.

It was hard to find doctors. I went through several before finding the right fit. If the people that actually 'get' me on here can't help me find a dr. for our specific needs who can?

I appreciate the info and would like more on the neurologist.

Slander is a similar but verbal version.

If you have concerns about such, you can always just list the good & helpful doctors.
A doctor's name & city, state, or country would be best as there may be same or similar names that come up when others do only name searches..

PMs can be used to share more information.


Saying one is helpful, or not helpful is a pretty safe way to state your opinion.

Not helpful ..... maybe a specific note that they denied your specific symptom or made negative comments about your complaints, such as listing "Somatoform Disorder" in your medical record. This can be the kiss of death to future treatment.

I think the more important comments needed are about those who claim to be concussion specialists. Did anybody see a 'concussion specialist' who helped or was of no help ?

There are doctors and therapists who may be excellent with a specific concussion symptom or two but are entirely useless with other symptoms from concussion.

We also do not want to create a situation where someone feels they need to travel quite a distance and pay a bunch of money out of pocket just because Dr So-n-So successfully treated Sally Slip-n-Fall for her injury.

Some time ago, a NT participant took her daughter from the New England area to Dallas, Texas to see Dr Jonathan Walker for treatment with his qEEG based NeuroFeedback therapy. It was expensive and time consuming but it appeared to help her daughter.

In my experience, RateMD and Healthgrades have been poor sources for information about treating specific injuries. I use them to find the CV (Curriculum Vitae) of doctors so I can understand where they trained and what accomplishments they have attained. Finding a doctor who has contributed to a published report about concussion, then reading that report can be a big help.

Until you find a way to reduce stress in your life, I doubt that finding any specific doctor will help much. The doctor you need will be able to convince you about reducing stress. Besides, it's more likely that you need a doctor who has experience with drug caused brain dysfunction, such as a doctor who deals with recovery from addiction or other poisonings.
