It has taken two years and four months (and counting), but I am mostly better (maybe 90%). I'm back to work full-time and working productively. I'm driving (cities, highways). I'm exercising (fast treadmill walking and stationary cycle) at least once a day, usually twice. My mood is good. I've resumed my language studies. I've been on an actual holiday for a week. My sleep is better - not perfect, but better. I feel...close to normal, with some minor blips here and there.
I just wanted to share this. This community has meant a lot to me during my recovery (a special thanks to Mark in Idaho). I will post again with more information about my recovery and what has worked for me, and what hasn't. |

Green, so glad to hear about your recovery. Congrats to you, and I hope it only gets better. Please let us know what worked for you and what didn't. I'm already finding that the vitamins mentioned in the sticky seem to make a difference for me.
All the best, Bas |

Hi Greenfrog!
That is great news! Have your headaches gone away 100%? Do you need to take any meds? Did you fly on your vacation and if so any issues? So happy to hear how well you are doing. Unfortunately I just smacked my head a bit and am having a small setback so I decided to check the forum and recognized your name. But, for the good news, I was doing so much better as well, running, taking a class, etc but still do have my constant headache. Congrats! |

I'm really glad to hear about your improvements (sorry to hear you smacked your head recently). I used to love running but haven't tried it yet. I figure it will be one of the last things I try. How great that you've been able to take a class. I never took any meds. I considered taking antidepressants but ultimately decided against it. I have been taking fish oil supplements, multi with high Bs, D3, and curcumin. The occasional potato chip binge notwithstanding, I've been trying to eat well as well. Let food be thy medicine, etc. As for the holiday, yes! We took a flight (about three hours each way). It really went fine. There are some threads on NT with good tips re flying. I don't get major headaches any more. I'm not completely symptom-free yet, though. I still have very mild headaches and/or feel a bit "off" from time to time. My stomach seems to be a bit more sensitive than it was before the injury. Apart from working full-time, I'm still trying to take it easy and not push too hard. I've had some very good days (and I'm functioning at a pretty good level) but am not yet all the way home. I'm hopeful that this residual layer of symptoms will abate in time, but I know there are no guarantees with PCS. My best to you (as Mark likes to say). Hi Greenfrog & everyone!
I haven't been on the forums in a while (been working hard on recovery....but a bit depressed by the slow progress). Greenfrog, I am so encouraged to hear how well you are doing. That is awesome! It has been 23 months for me and I am finally getting ready to be released by the doctor and put at MMI. I just finished NeuroFeedback but didn't see the improvement that I had hoped for. Some things have improved slowly over time, but the headaches are still there daily and the sleep dysfunction is prgressivly worse along with the extreme fatigue that I can't seem to shake. Noise/sensory is still a problem with too many people talking at once (light sensitivity is better....but not like it used to be). I also have an overall sensitivity to meds, vibrations, pain etc that I didn't seem to have before the injury. So far I have had quite a bit of treatment (vestibular therapy, myofascial release therapy, injections into frontal and temperal for headaches, 12 weeks of traction for cspine, tmj treatment with a permanent orthotic, neuro feedback, VNG which came back abnormal and sent in me for a 2nd round of specialized vestibular therapy and more) and feel I should be feeling better at this point. The Neuro doc said he can see by my brainwaves that things are not automatic and that it takes a lot of effort for me to concentrate/focus. That is very draining on your entire system. Anyway, glad I popped back by and so glad to hear of your improvements. Best wishes to you all!
