Default Next month is my two year anniversay since a life changing concussion

some of you may have seen me post here before but i havent in awhile because i have been feeling normal again for maybe around 6 months

15 months of a terrible concussion almost ruined me i never thought id be the same and thought i was screwed

im back to normal in every aspect. the only lingering symptoms i still have is some flashy vision but i rarely notice it and its not as bad as it was and my left eye still has some double vision but it only is noticeable when im stressed or having a bad day

overall i think i had a severe upper neck injury with a concussionn and the concussion when away but my neck took awhile to heal which messed with my jaw and gave me migraine like symptons

i appreciate all the talks and support you guys gave me. i doubt ill ever post here again there is no need. i got my life back and even when i feel i hit a road bump which rarely happens i can easily over come it

hang in there you will be better. im hopeful that my remaining few symptoms will completely go away and i think they will because they are not nearly as bad as they were and there the last ones left

thanks

Thumbs up

Wonderful news!! Take care of yourself (and your brain!). Congratulations for surviving! It is not easy.

What happened: Legs pulled forward by a parent's hockey stick while resting at the side of the rink at a family skate....sent me straight back. I hit the back of my head (with helmet) on the ice, bounced a few times, unconscious for a few minutes. September 11, 2011. Off work since then…I work part-time at home when I can. It has been hell but slowly feeling better (when I am alone☺).

Current symptoms: Vision problems (but 20/20 in each eye alone!) – convergence insufficiency – horizontal and vertical (heterophoria), problems with tracking and saccades, peripheral vision problems, eyes see different colour tints; tinnitus 24/7 both ears; hyperacusis (noise filter gone!), labyrinthian (inner ear) concussion, vestibular dysfunction (dizzy, bedspins, need to look down when walking); partial loss of sense of smell; electric shocks through head when doing too much; headaches; emotional lability; memory blanks; difficulty concentrating. I still can’t go into busy, noisy places. Fatigue. Executive functioning was affected – multi-tasking, planning, motivation. Slight aphasia. Shooting pain up neck and limited mobility at neck. Otherwise lucky!

Current treatments: Vestibular therapy, Vision therapy, amantadine (100 mg a day), acupuncture and physiotherapy for neck, slow return to exercise, magnesium, resveratrol, omega 3 fish oils, vitamins D, B and multi. Optimism and perserverance.
