Am I the only one feeling ****** off at the medical world for abandoning people who are concussed? I mean seriously, there is absolutely nothing that can help us unless there is a serious brain injury for which there are partially working therapies! Heck there are still no machines to scan our injuries leave alone treating them. Shame on our so called modern medical community who has been continuously being so ignorant and arguing towards poor concussed people telling them it's all in their minds and disrespecting us...No courtesy or empathise our pains..we are left alone to grieve cry and heal on our own..beg others to just believe us and understand..we don't expect any treatments just believe us..it's sad.
It's even more disappointing considering that concussion is the most common injury on this planet..why is this happening? Just because our injuries are invisible doesn't mean nothing had happened with us. We had a bloody head trauma. My neuro offended me by telling me that I should lose weight and nothing is wrong with me. We come to you hoping that you will understand and explain others our situation. Unfortunately most of the doctors have been like this so far in my concussion journey. Screw you doctors! We are better off without your help. You losers make us feel worse. |

There are also other interesting clinical trials going on especially with possibly 400000 soldiers having head injuries from the war, we are seeing more money put towards brain injury We need to stay in contact with and push brain injury organizations on what is going on in cutting edge research. I talk semi regularly to a director at BIUSA and let him know the suffering we are going through and he says he will update me on any interesting advances or clinical trials. We also need to call these agencies and make sure they're doing their jobs. This gentleman told me he gets thousands upon thousands of calls a year asking what is being done. There are literally thousands of trials going on at universities and I follow as much as I can. We need to make healing tbi/abi/pcs a priority to those in charge. |

Young professionals tend to be more up to date and modern in their thinking and knowledge. Seek them out. There is also a vision test I took that indicated damage to 3 different parts of my brain, and when I confronted another doctor on the results, he said "oh yeah, that is organic damage we cant see" So I basically made him admit negative mri was wrong. We have to advocate so hard for ourselves because I have no intention of living the rest of my life feeling like I do right now. |

No. It;s the wierdes test. You put on these huge goggles and then follow a dot. and then they lay you down and blow wind into youre ears and test your eyes again. I have searched the internet and not found it.
I will ask when i go again. I received a written report in the mail that indicated damage to brain stem, thalamus and cerebellum. I had to Press the dotor to admit it meat i had brain damage. He said "it's organic damage we cabt see" no kidding lol |

12/02/2012 - Light concussion at boxing practice. Ended up having PCS for about 3 months. March 2013 - Thought that since most of my symptoms resolved I could start having fun again. Went snowmobiling once (didn't hit my head) and concussion symptoms returned and got even worse than before. June 2013 - accidentally bumped my head against a deck railing, and had a month-long setback. November 2013 - drove to work after a big snowstorm and the roads were very rough, ended up having another setback. 2014 - Having setbacks after coughing/sneezing too much, or someone slapping me on the back, or any other significant jarring. Feb 2014 - Started seeing Atlas Orthogonal chiro - most helpful doc so far. June 2014 - Two months of physical/visual therapy - no noticeable improvement. September 2014 - Diagnosed with Perilymph Fistula in right ear. November 2014 - Fistula surgery (switched to left ear before the surgery after additional testing). January 2016 - Quit work to "work" on figuring out PCS, so far it seems that eyes/vision issues are the most contributing factor, especially computer work. Current symptoms are: inconsistent sleep patterns, headaches, vertigo/dizziness, anxiety/panic attacks, mental fog/problems with concentration, problems with computer screens. |

April 11, 2014 Flipped in class 2 white water while kayaking, hit my forehead (was wearing a helmet). Lots of symptoms to begin with. Those remaining are fatigue, brain freezes/overstimulation, headaches, sensitivity to light and sound. Insomnia is getting better but still an issue, and appetite is ba-ack! Depression and anxiety are largely under control thanks to Lexapro, exercise, and a very distant light at the end of the tunnel. Drugs: Lexapro, occasional 2-5mgs ambien. Off amatryptaline. Taking about 453 supplements. Just started vision therapy, waiting on some blue-tinted prism glasses. "You will encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. The doctor gave me ambien 12.5 because 10 didn't work for me and he gave me flexeril. I take those two together at night and it has been working very well...best sleep in 8 years since this mess began ![]() Used to wake up with worst headaches in back of head and since I play a doctor on the internet I thought It was damaged neurons causing the pain and it was irreversible lol. Turned out it was muscle pain and the flexeril did away with it the very first night!! Hope this helps!! |
