For those who have vision problems and sensitive eyes, how often do you use eye drops? I bought two different types from Similasan, but I'm not sure how often to use them.
I'll admit that I use one of them at least 15 times a day. My eyes have been pretty sore ever since the concussion. I forgot to use my eye drops today, and boy did I notice. I felt a stabbing, burning pain out of the blue and had to step away from the computer immediately. I had a deadline to meet for a client, so I ended up working on my laptop with the lights off. I'm currently wearing sunglasses and have the screen as dim as I can make it, and all of the lights are still turned off. I know this post was about eye drops, but if anybody has any tips for using the computer without pain, I would appreciate those as well. I experience different types of pain from my electronic devices, but today's pain is due to the level of brightness.

Have you tried using f.lux to adjust your display ? It can do more than just dim the display.

I don't know what area you're in, but I have a GREAT optometrist in Pasadena, CA.
He recommends theratears, the preservative-free, single-use drops. He says that they are the most similar to our own tears. http://www.akorn.com/theratears.php I love them. But they are hard for me to find and a little expensive. I also use Similasan, which my optometrist thinks is second best, but still good. http://www.similasanusa.com/allergy-eye-relief I have allergies so I use their allergy relief drop. They are preservative-free too. That's probably the most important quality to get in an eye drop. But you have to be careful that the bottle/dropper doesn't get dirty because the preservatives are what kill the germs so they don't get in your eyes. Which is why the theratears are disposable after one use. The Similasan drop bottles are supposed to be thrown away after 30 days. I recommend you see a good optometrist to make sure something else isn't going on that's causing the dryness that's causing you so much pain/discomfort. My boyfriend is a computer software engineer and he was diagnosed with blepharitis and the prescribed treatment plan that the optometrist gave him is helping to greatly reduce his discomfort. |

[SIZE="1"]What happened. I was in a car accident 2-23-2013, and got a mild concussion from it. I had some time off for brain rest, got somewhat better, but slipped into PCS in March 2013. Symptoms I had: dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, tinitis, occasional headaches and migraines, Symptoms as of 5--2013: poor sleep, tinitis, some confusion /short term memory blanks, balance. The other symptoms are mostly gone, but flare up if I OVERdo something. Therapy I had: vestibular 3 months in: I could drive more and for longer distances. I felt like a younger, happier version of myself and I feel so blessed to have this feeling. 9 months in and I am working full time. I do get tired, and some sound and light sensitivity from time to time, but mostly I am over most of my symptoms. I pray every day and I m praying for your recovery. Over a year in: I can multi task (limited) and have humor in my life. But when I am tired, I am very tired. |

Definitely try f.lux.
As far as treating dry eye - I do a hot compress over my eyes for five minutes every day. Daily teaspoon of fish oil works well. Fish oil pills don't work for me, only the actual oil. And of course, eye drops, probably twice a day. Good luck! |
