Hi everyone,
I'm looking for help on how to stop worrying so much about this concussion and head bumps along the way that cause headaches and more anxiety. I've moved home for the summer to try to get some distance from emotional stress I had where I live for grad school, which has helped get relieve other stressors, but I still find that most of my thoughts revolve around this concussion and my slow recovery and recent setback (the worrying has gotten a lot worse since this setback). I realize that what I need is quiet rest, but I feel like I can't get that when my mind is always on the concussion, how it's affecting my life, etc. I was on klonopin after not sleeping for 3 nights shortly after the concussion, but have been off that for 2 months with no interest in going back on. I do a lot of meditating, which helps, and am on the supplement regime (for about a month, month and a half), and see a therapist, but I just can't seem to stop my mind. Thanks |

You will benefit from finding something to stay occupied with. The idle mind tends to be more prone to anxiety. Go fishing or find something to do where your focus is off yourself.
Hopefully, your therapist can offer some CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) ways to redirect your thoughts away from your anxieties. If not, try to get a referral to someone with CBT training.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately most of my hobbies and pastimes before the concussion were active physically or mentally. Time to find some new ones I guess!
