Default Looking for support

Hi everybody. I was rear ended in a traffic light yesterday. I was sent to the hospital and CT showed up clean. I'm convinced my seatbelt prevented a situation that makes this one seem minute in comparison. With that said, the headaches aren't too bad but my anxiety and depression has already taken hold. I'm afraid and scared for the future as the previous episode I went through was less than 8 months ago. Thanks for listening

Sorry about your injury, but welcome to NT.

Can you tell us a bit about your previous incident? Just a bit though, as it might be best for you to be limit your screen time, so that you can get as much rest as possible.

Especially in the early stages of recovery, it is generally thought best to minimize physical and mental exertion, sleep as much as possible, eat properly and avoid alcohol.

If you haven't already done so, consider reporting the depression and anxiety to your doctor.

As you've likely been diagnosed with whiplash, you might find relief from icing your neck. If your symptoms persist, it might be a good idea to make sure your neck is examined thoroughly.

Like Hockey said.. ice your neck... and an initial CT may show clean but you could have swelling today... Just watch for signs and try (I know its not easy) and not stress...

Welcome! Look forward to hearing from you more!

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily.

Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well.

Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off)

Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture

Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath

What has you scared for the future ? You are not at risk of second impact syndrome.

In my opinion, the hospital was negligent in exposing you to such a high dose of x-ray radiation when it sounds like you showed no indications of needing a CT Scan.
