Hi,
I have a question for those that have used Lumosity. I just did my first "training" and my scores were all in the 0 percentile for my age group. I am wondering if this first time is always scored like this......or if my scores were truly in the 0 percentile. Not too interested in the debate about the test itself and it's use with PCS. I searched Lumosity before I posted so have read much of that already. Thanks. |

I have not done the paid Lumosity exercises but when I tried the free samples of Lumosity and others, I found there is a learning curve. The computer skills needed to do the exercises can take a few repetitions. I've been doing the free versions of the Rosetta Stone Fit Brains program. It took me quite a few repetitions to get good at the computer skills. The Fit Brains program appears to be set up for a desktop computer using a mouse, not a touchpad found on a laptop.
You also may have inputted some erroneous demographic data so your performance is not being properly scored. Either way, don't be discouraged.

They take into acct your demographic and the amount you have done it. Usually after a month you are at the correct percentile.

Our low scores are due to our cognitive issues. I had my mother do the initial test and her score was around 65% in all areas.
I think the increased score, after a period of time, is partially due to figuring out how to play the games well(repetition of the same thing, and I figured out how to "cheat" already on some games), and not necessarily a result of better cognitive function. I have no doubt the games do help the brain, but I wonder how much improvement I can expect. |

Will, yes it will. Especially if your a suscriber. My neuropsych wished I never did it as a lot are the same actually. Told me I already had practice at some of the tests because of it.
Id recommend waiting untill after your test, that way you will know your issues and customize the games to your needs. When is your test? |

That being said though, my priority is recovery so I am not sure if I should stop playing the games for a week or keep at it if it will help my brain recover... |

Take the week off.
Also my neuropsych was ordered by work comp. I as well was freaking out about how they would screw me ect ect. They did not. I had a very professional neuropsych who proved my issues and challenges. He was completely transparent. Do you know who you are seeing? Have you googled him? Maybe find out about him/her to quell your anxiety? Trust me I know what you are feeling. |

Should also add, there are a bunch of different batteries of test the NP can order. The ones my NP ordered can be totally different from what yours order.
