Default Tinnitus finally turning corner after 12 months

An update and this with a good nights rest Tinnitus is 50% better.

It's still there if i'm in a quiet room however it is gradually getting better after 12 months.

The first 3 months the Tinnitus was SO LOUD that i barely slept at night.

I'm wondering if even after 12 months neural/brain plasticity has the chance to create new healthy connections?

Although i don't expect the Tinnitus, after 1 year to go away by 100% this is GOOD progress.

The brain is very interesting and I think that it constantly is evolving despite most doctors saying that after 6 months your recovery will be far more limited.
Most Doctors will say 6 months and what state your are in with head injury is likely permanent.

That's great news! It should make you feel optimistic.

Ha, most doctors have never suffered from PCS so I think they just recite what they've read.

After a year mine's not as bad as it was, I notice it now when I'm either tired or hungry!

Martin,

Mine has been goofy of late....in the last 2 weeks it changes pitch and tone a lot and is louder. I have been wondering if that is a good sign?

It could be a good sign. Mine was all over the place also.

One thing i notice is that the more tired i am the more apparent it is.

I think lack of sleep and stress of accidents can trigger it.

@ Bud did you have a hearing test post accident?

That's great news buddy. Even my tinnitus has settled down to a slight hiss after exactly a year! Its still there all the time and would suddenly spike sometimes for no obvious reason . but compared to what it was in the first couple of months its A LOT better! Just a lot of time needed in these things but it definitely reduces a bunch for most people. I have done cervical MRI today and the reports are due this evening so let's see maybe something gets caught in my neck. There is hope for everybody just get loads of rest and take B vitamins ,fishoil, D3, green tea and loads of antioxidants like blueberries etc

Mines varies too, occasionally another tone appears for a few seconds then disappears. Just lately it's been up and down but generally less. Driving and watching TV used to make it worse but not any more. Weird how the year mark seems to herald improvement.

Martin,

I have had no tests for anything done. I was just thrown out there after a couple of weeks at the beginning of May 2014.

It wasn't until I really started falling apart in November that I found this site and realized I could have been under a little more careful observation.
