Bach Flower Remedies, Rescue Sleep Spray could be worth a try. Have only just started using it, am getting a deeper sleep which is great. Reviews of it most encouraging when I looked it up on** site.

Sleep isn't a conscious process which is why I find it so frustrating, these days I just live with the realisation some days I'll feel better than others and concentrate on the fact I'm getting better slowly but surely. I also remember how well I used to sleep and determined I'll get there again eventually.
Not to hijack the sleep theme, but how did you overcome depersonalization? Did it just resolve or did you have some form of active intervention? I'm eight years post injury and have yet to regain my sense of connection to others.

Well, by depersonalisation I mean a sense of detachment from reality. It gradually went away as my anxiety lessened. But socially PCS made me withdraw - an injured animal response, it also knocked my confidence which I had to regain by making myself do the things I used to. Basically reclaiming normality back. I couldn't do it until I was in a more positive frame of mind. The psychological impact hangs around even when the physical symptoms fade.

Super E,

You are saying your confidence returned?

Have had a very difficult time with this issue....always been a very can do attitude. Now, I am never sure.

Indecision can come with TBI. I used to stand in front of my closet, for ages, because I couldn't decide which outfit to wear. On the advice of my psychologist, I eliminated the problem by having two sets of clothing - and wearing the clean one.

Lack of volition can also be a problem. It sure can be hard to get things done.

Hockey,

That is funny!!

The head is a fascinating item that you take for granted till it doesn't work right.

So, so true. I live in a weird universe, now. Still, I've learned to adapt. What I can't beat, I work around or laugh at. It does help to try and see the funny side.

My depersonalisation went at about 5 yrs post tbi. I wasn't aware I had it for years as my self awareness was nil! I think it's almost a self preservation thing, if you are afraid of what's going on or fear consequences, of can't cope with what's going on. When I reached the point of acceptance and adjusting to fit my limits thing kind of changed without me realising...nothing new there then!
I could sleep standing up, it seemed I was the sleeping martini girl, any time ,anyplace, anywhere! Now my head switches off when overloaded. First thing to go is head to mouth barrier, so I just say whatever is going on in my head. It gets me into much bother.
Hope this helps a little
