I have been on a wait list for behavioural, cognitive, occupational therapy for almost 2 years now and I finally got the call that it is my turn. While I am so excited about finally getting support to find ways to cope with my new life, I am beyond stressed.
You see after all this time I don't remember anything of what my life was like before, so how do I tell them what I want help with? If I think about it, I can come up with a few things but I know I am missing some pretty big issues. What I can come up with are: 1. Meal planning and preparation (I'm often too exhausted so we eat a lot of take out) 2. Managing cleaning/household maintenance duties (I can do small bits, but it always feels like my house is a mess) 3. Self care (remembering to eat, take meds/supplements, etc.) 4. Managing money, budgeting and paying bills (something I was so good at before) 5. Dealing with frustrations and mood swings Can anyone help with things I might be forgetting? I don't even remember what these therapist will be able to help me with. I guess I better do some research! |
