Hello,
Giving an update. I am currently seeing a very knowledge and helpful doctor at a concussion clinic who has diagnosed me with Cervical Strain, PCS, Vestibular Dysfunction, Visual Disturbance, and cervicogenic dizziness. Today I took the ImPACT test and I ended up doing much worse than expected. I started out strong, but the more I had to think and concentrate, the worse my dizziness, blurred vision, neck/back tension, base of the skull headaches, anger increased. By the end of the test, I thought I was going to vomit. My doctor said he expected me do to better on this test considering I sustained the concussion almost 3 months ago. I thought I would have done better too. Should I read anything into these ImPACT results? I keep telling myself that I am still early on in recovery and there is plenty of time for me to regain everything. My vision therapy with the behavioral optometrist is going well. I have been doing light therapy at home for 20 minutes/day and I have been seeing very small, but consistent improvements. As a result of my progress, she gave me an Aperture Rule to use at home to help with my convergence, blurred vision, etc. I will be starting the Aperture Rule exercises today. She also fitted me for reading glasses with a yellow tint to use only on an as needed basis. I am in Vestibular Therapy and I am improving with this as well at a very slow pace. I am now able to do alot of the exercises for longer periods of time and am learning to manage the dizziness better. In therapy, they use alot of manual techniques due to all of the issues I am having with my neck. |

I am always concerned when an doctor tries to say a time line indicates a reason for improvement. Yes, most do improve over time but many get stuck until a specific condition is treated/resolved. Others just take much longer than any artificial timeline would suggest.
At least you are getting multi-disciplinary care.
