After a couple of years of no setbacks, I finally hit my head and suffered a setback. While I had hit my head before this one was a bit stronger and I had anxiety from it worrying about a concussion. But there were no concussion symptoms the day off and the next day I just had a headache whether from the anxiety and/or hitting my head. I don't believe it was a concussion but there was a setback nevertheless.
So my question is how do you guys get over a setback? A couple of days rest and then back to normal activities? The headache went away after a couple of days and I was wondering if I should start going back to normal activities and pushing my head mentally as I've had some success with that before. Any feedback is appreciated, thank you. |

I suggest taking it easy for a while but if you have been able to push through, all bets are off. Your anxiety may be the cause of your struggles. Choosing to ignore the bump may help.

4 years,
It sounds as though if you are full aware you did not hurt yourself. Your couple of days setback should maybe be labeled as a necessary time of assessment and with the proper conclusion reached carry on like normal. I still have times that I must remind myself nothing detrimental happened and work to ignore the resultant anxiety. I find that if something bothers my head or has potential for such I sort of go into this inward anxious self protection mode. When I recognize it as such I have to get back into that place where I am not looking for danger. Bud |

Thanks, yes you're right about ignoring the anxiety, it's not easy especially when you feel worse. But you need to realize that anxiety just makes it worse which isn't easy but necessary.
But yea after the headache went away I started going back to normal, trying to work my brain mentally by doing logic problems. It seems to have helped, starting to feel closer to normal. Wondering if once the headaches go away and the symptoms from the setback calm down if it's smart to just go back to normal. Seems as that might be helping but it's only been 5 days total. We'll see in a couple of days, hoping that by getting my brain going again it'll push me through. Thanks for your feedback. |

Looks like you were right Mark in Idaho, I should have probably rested a little bit longer. After having 2 good days of pushing it I went too hard on the third day and brought some symptoms back. I'll have to be a bit more careful next time and not push as quickly.
