Hi EE
Do you have the same condition? I bite my tongue without any control, this is very very distressing. my tongue burns with pain constantly. How do you deal with this? What meds are you taking Regards |

Hi Zakria, I have bilateral TN and I was undiagnosed for a long time. I've had numerous tooth issues which I believe were the result of TN and I lost a lot of teeth due to ongoing pain after root canals. My tongue is not a problem and I'm not sure what condition you have been diagnosed with. I am on a combination of meds for my condition but I can't tolerate a lot of the usual meds used for nerve pain. I hope you find some answers and try some meds to see what works for you. Take care

You've really been on my heart! I saw your post in the dental forum as well.
Have you had an X-ray? This sounds very serious! I hope you have a doctor who is on top of this! Please have your doctor dig deeper if you aren't getting answers from him!! nevermind! ![]() Thank God !! I know this must seem like a long wait, but I was SO VERY relieved to see that they did a CT!! Truly Caring Rae ![]() Last edited by Rrae; 06-14-2010 at 10:07 AM. Reason: add content |

Hi Zakira,
I am so sorry you are going through all this. I think I might have responded to you in another forum. I think you have some type of nerve injury caused by injection. This may affect your tongue. You might want to do some researd on this. I hope you feel better and please keep us posted! Illana |

hello,
six dental injections is a goodly amount in one sitting. the dentist may have hit your nerve with the needle; unfortunately, after the first injection, you would not feel this because you would be numbed by the excessive anesthetic used. trigeminal neuropathic pain is best managed with medications. a thin slice MRI could be useful to rule out a vascular compression on the trigeminal nerve, however, your symptoms sound consistent with a traumatic nerve injury. i would suggest making an appointment with an oral surgeon who does microsurgery on the trigeminal nerves to see if there is a possibility of surgical repair. these injuries are best treated sooner rather than later. best of luck, the researcher |
