Default Curcumin...upset/burning stomach

Inflammation is an issue for me.

I take lots of vitamins and supplements and eat well and it helps somewhat.

I have tried taking Curcumin at least twice in the past and it greatly upsets my stomach.

Anyone know info or is taking Curcumin without any upset stomach that can recommend a brand, a dosage and a way of taking this that is least likely to cause upset stomach???

Thank you.

Default Try whole form

Hello!
I take tumeric everyday. If you are taking curcumin, remember that it is extracted from tumeric. Extracting it this way means you are removing other beneficial properties, and ingesting this one component in far greater quantities than you could otherwise.

I would suggest taking the whole root form of tumeric (it still works wonders as an inflammatory). Start with just one capsule (they are usually about 500mg), and perhaps try eating a little something first. See if that helps and maybe then you can graduate to higher doses as your tummy allows.

It is a wonderful supplement. I have been eating it for years in curries, though, before I ever took a capsule.

Good luck!

How do you usually do with spicy food? I can't take curcumin, due to my intolerance to spicy food.

I ended up with a stomach ulcer back in the 80's from pharma anti inflammatory drug, so I have feared a flair up so really really am careful. I take turmeric and what I believe is saving my stomach is DGL which is called a stomach lining tamer. There is a lot of info on DGL and I've even written reviews on my use of it and how it saves me. I'm probably taking it 5 yrs or so. puritan pride has good deals and I stock up. Taking ibuprofen too can give worry. So far so good.

I do take digestive enzymes and probiotics daily too. Doing all I know to do to get thru the rest of my life.... I have no problems with spicy foods, I don't avoid them.

Hi Vowel Lady, I’ve tried a few different curcumin products, and one that works well for me is turmeric meriva. Currently I am taking one 500 mg capsule daily at lunch time. Some manufacturers recommend up to 1000 mg per day, but the higher dosage may cause more gastric upset. Different brands of the meriva formulation are available on sites such as iherb.

I take 500mg Turmeric Phytosome with Meriva from swansons...works good for me, but I would not be without DGL either.

Default turmeric

I read some amazing reviews about Dr. Danielle's curcumin turmeric supplement on amazon. It seems to have the least amount of ingredients and in a pure state. I just ordered some and will give an update. But there has been vast studies on curcumin's ability to help inflammation.

My doctor prescribed vitamins from Vital Nutrients which he thinks is the purest form. I haven't tried them as they are hard to get and very expensive. I did find Garden of Life to have some raw ingredients and could be a good pure supplement.

Hope that helps!
