I try to stay away from all soda's even diet. I have actually started to make my own herbal teas/iced teas to stay away from the processed drinks and caffein. Just a much healthier option....just my .02 cents.

I avoid all carbonated drinks, too. Diet and regular. Since I've been drinking just water I have noticed a drastic difference in the way I feel. Plus.....I've lost weight!

If you don't like plain water just squeeze a lemon into it and put about 1/2 a packet of Splenda (or to taste).

How much of it do you drink per day on avg?

a couple a week probably is OK,, but many each day is not good at all..

My son used to be hooked on the reg mt dew.
mainly for the caffeine .. he finally quit buying it.

pop/soda drinks are not going to help anyone be healthier at all. IMO
It's one of the first things to eliminate, when health is an issue.

I don't know about the diabetic side of it or how it affects blood sugar.

I think Squirt has wood rosin in it too. So I just looked up the ingredients, and it appears that the formula has changed.

But if you scroll down, to Slice and Tropicana products, you can see it is in those now instead!
http://www.pepsiproductfacts.com/inf...s=8&i=fingrdnt

It is still in Squirt:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_t...ents_in_squirt

So what is "wood rosin" ?
http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/6534

http://www.wisegeek.com/why-do-many-...wood-rosin.htm

So I wonder why Pepsi took it out of Mountain Dew recently?
I bet there is a reason.

I really like the Diet version of Lipton Green tea. I have one a day. Sometimes I have a Diet Vernor's But not every day either.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernors
I tend to let the bubbles work off since carbonation is hard on me now that I am older. Vernors was a local product when I was growing up. It is an acquired taste still today.

It seems the wood rosin is in fruit type drinks that are not "clear" but opaque. Why it is not listed on Mountain Dew anymore is a mystery to me.

Red face

I started adding 8 oz of v8 juice to 50 oz of water for my drinking thru out the day...very satisfying(hate drinking just plain water) and a bit of salt plus 2 extra servings of veggies!
I am trying to stay away from all artificial sweeteners.

Wink

I clearly remember the wood rosin in Mountain Dew.

I used to work midnights, and at 7am, (I left at 9am) my bookkeeper would come in to do the deposit and stats, and would buy Twinkies and Mountain Dew for breakfast.

I used to ask her how the wood rosin was that day! Hoping she'd get the point. I found for myself, at 8am, to get to that
11 hr mark (11 hr shift ) that milk was the only thing that would do it for me then!

Bizi-- I use the new Low Sodium V8 --I have one can daily. They reformulated it and made it thicker and better! It has 1100mg of potassium now in it...more than before!

I like it on ice at 4pm--my low time, as a pre-dinner snack. It fills me up nicely and I eat less at dinner! I can't tolerate the regular one anymore since I don't eat alot of salt.
