If you buy a GIC or term deposit, you can get 1.2 or 1.3 %, maybe a little more, depending on the amount and if it's fixed or cashable. Savings accounts don't get as much - my saving account gets .85%.

On the other side, mortgage rates are pretty low - variable rate 2.4% so that's nice.

I don't know much about Cdn stocks versus US.

Happy May 1st!
Where did this year go????
Had vietnamese noodle house for dinner last night.
I can't believe that I am up 4 1/2 pounds this morning. Has to be from the soup last night. Asian cooking is notorious for being salty or using msg in their cooking that is the only explanation that I can fathom.
It was shocking to see on the scale this morning!!!!!!!

Even though the soup was delicious, I did eat 2 cups of rice noodles!...The soup did not seem that salty though????? Lunch was pretty salty if I recall.

Todays Lunch was Salmon and tabouli and beets and kale. Yummy!

going to go pick up some fruit!
2 pounds of cut up fresh fruit on sale!
I think I am going to susans house for dinner tomorrow I will bring this fresh fruit.
jeff is gone for the weekend so I will eat that for breakfast and greens are on sale as well will pick them up for a smoothie, have not made them in a good while.
dinner tonight was cream kale soup and some chicken salad. And I will have some of the fruit before going to the gym this evening.

I definitely jogged longer with out a break like 6 minutes jog(5mph) 1 min walk(3.5mph) for most of the hour. 9 minutes straight at the end.
Here are my stats if anyone is interested:

1 mile=12min:35sec
3 miles=37:37
3.2 (5K)=40 mins
4 miles=50 mins
4.81 miles=60 mins
5 miles including cool down=64 minutes
Fit bit totals=13,748 steps, 6.85 miles, 2183 calories

I was able to run for longer periods of time even though my right big toe hurt from a prior injury. It hurt off and on toward the end.
Even my heart rate came down quicker!
I am happy with the progress that I am making!

Unhappy

I went to the gym and did the arc trainer (think stair master eyliptical low impct self propelled)after attempting to jog for 5 minutes after first walking for 5 minutes. on the tred mmill The jogging felt funny so will not do that. So i swtched to the arc machine and did that. I did the arc trainer and got my heart rate up to 134, so some cardio I sweat alittle.
my hip was achey when I got home after sitting watching an x-files episode. did a stretch, a pigeon stretch and felt good after that. so it just needed stretching out.
I can live with this.
Will just do the arc trainer for now.
my right big toe really hurt, prior injury toward the end of the hour. I just don't see how I will progress at this rate.
very discouraged.

I think what you're doing is amazing. Have you tried icing the toe afterwards or maybe take an anti-inflammatory before working out? Different shoes? Have you had it xrayed since the original injury? Perhaps a physiotherapist may have some suggestions. Or, a chiropractor, depending on the nature of the injury? Often, even if you can't completely fix something, you can improve it. Might take some detective work.

I had a hip that hurt for the better part of two years after a really long hike on a sandy beach and through a forest. That wasn't even an injury; I think it was the soft sand that did me in.

Hi Bizi,

I know I am tardy in this response as two weeks have past since you posted it.

I also apologize that I am not up to date on your journey but it sounds like you are meeting your goals.

I was just wondering when you weigh? This question came to mind when I read your post about eating the soup and weighing more the next day.

I found the best and most accurate way of determining TRUE weight loss and not just fluid changes is if you weight as soon as you get up in the morning but immediately after voiding.

I was amazed how much one's bladder can hold in weight. I did an experiment for a few days about a year ago. I got out of bed, straight to the digital scale, weighed, voided, and then weighed immediately again. A few pound difference. WOW, I was shocked that my bladder could hold that much weight.

Now I ONLY weigh as soon as I get up but immediately after voiding. It gives me a better idea of if I really gained a pound or lost one over time, usually using the span of a week. One's weight will vary throughout the week due to fluid changes but you can keep a better eye on it if you always weigh at the same time of day when you do step on that scale.

I am still amazed at the capacity of one's bladder in terms of weight of,... full versus empty.

If I am to be weighed at a doctor visit, I always empty my bladder right before I hit their scale.

HI hope!
Thank you for your thoughtful post to me.
I ALWAYS weigh just like you.
the 4 1/2 pound weight gain from the noodle soup was shocking!
I find that if I do a modified pigeon stretch a few times thru out the day my hip feels fine.
am going to stick with the arc trainer for a while....don't know when i should try to reintroduce jogging again????
I hope you are not hopeless anymore.
thank you again for reading and responding!

I had a hip that hurt for the better part of two years after a really long hike on a sandy beach and through a forest. That wasn't even an injury; I think it was the soft sand that did me in.

HI carol!
thank you for reading my thread! and for your support.
It is like I don't have insurance now...we have a $4K deductible...sigh
so I really can't afford to go see a doctor who would reccomend PT or maybe a chiroprator, they are very expensive!
I don't like to take meds I find my toe hurts when I start to lose form.

walking in the sand is really hard! sorry for your lengthy injury.
How long till I can start to jog again do you think> It hurt last night after one weeks rest, I jogged for 5 minutes.
