Thank you dave.
I have done two AF stints this past 2 years. one was for 5 months(165 days) the other was 4 months(121 days)jan-may then 30 days june this year. So I know that I can go for longer periods of time AF if I try. You are right Dave I want and I need are different things. I want to get some motivation back in my life...this is the reason for the med changes. I know that I should get rid of all of my alcohol usage, just can't seem to do that just yet. My psych doctor thinks I am in denial. any way... have a great day and thank you for your support. bizi 147 this morning....

Hi Bizi!
I feel you are showing great courage by taking this on -- and on a public forum, too. The AF part is maybe even more challenging, as you had mentioned you and Jeff enjoy drinking together. I can relate to this. We live near so very many microbreweries. Most of the pubs carry a large variety of brews. My husband likes to go out to a pub or sports bar 2-3 times a month. He likes me to go with him. I enjoy our time there, as we often run into old friends (40+ years of friendship). I tend to have a drink when there, even though I usually don't drink otherwise. Sometimes I have an alcohol-free drink. My point is: It's a place we enjoy together, now and then. I am more likely to have a drink if I go...and he and I enjoy going together. It's not our only social time; yet, it's one of his favorite places to socialize, even though neither of us drinks daily. I think I understand when you mention drinking is something you and Jeff have (or do) in common. I could lose some weight and am working on it. You and Dave are inspiring me! YOu have a good memory about jeff and my relationship. good dinner tonight a firm new white fish gotten from whole foods, mixed veggies, half an avocado, strawberries. chocolate truffle for desert! yummy! bizi 145.5 this am, the bloating is going away!

I really over did it with the carbs tonight at texas road house.
It is like I substituted drinking with eating. WE had a coupon for a free appetizer so I ordered snake bites, fried peppers and cheese, yummy. Ate 2 perfect doughy rolls with butter. Ate a big sweet potato with butter and sugar, serving of veggies, part of jeffs baked potato, and peanuts. I ate the topping off my road kill, mushrooms and onions and cheese pepper jack took the rest of the hamburger home. I am stuffed! At least I did not drink! bizi

Hey bizi,
That all sounds so tasty my mouth is watering! I am going through a rough patch, feeling hungry all the time again. I think it is the Depression and Mirtazapine. You deserve huge congratulations for sticking to your 'no drinking' vow. Carbs are the healthier option. Dave.

hi dave,
thanks for your post to me. I am sorry you are feeling hungry all of the time...maybe your body is in starvation mode? maybe it is time to add a few more calories to your days.I think I remember that when our bodies go into starvation mode we can get by with 500 calories and not see a weight loss. I need at least 1200 calories for a woman not sure what it is for a man. How do you deal with the cravings? Besides yesterdays disastrous dinner. I usually just make sure I drink a lot of water through out the day eat more veggies to fill me up and chew gum after dinner. Actually I have been in vacation mode for 2 months.... need to get serious again about healthy eating and HAVE TO GET BACK to the gym. take care my friend. chin up you can do this, you really are doing so well. bizi

You will get out of Vacation Mode soon enough, it is just a comfortable place to be. Yet you have targets you have reached before and will do again, weight and drink-wise.
I do not think I have hit Starvation Mode, I haven't cut down any more and the weight loss is stable. I have not been drinking anywhere near enough water or 0cal/0 sweetener diluted juice. It just hurts too much to lift anything to my mouth regularly, straws are no answer. Thinking about it, this is probably part of the problem, I will have to try harder and push through the pain. It is better than just suffering. Dave.
