thanks TheBrother. wise words for me and my board mates.
you may be right. i know on my entire floor; labor & deliver, post partum, nursery and NICU i never saw anyone act like that. in fact we all (well i'm sure there were a few exceptions) were the most avid advocates for our patients, especially for the babies.

so i havn't worked floors for most of my career and things could be very different. then again it could be the squeeze nurses are getting from above to do more with less. their stress and pt load and paperwork load only gets worse. i could go on and on.

all my cohorts here could write reams on how they've been tx'd.

but hopefully this hospital will be different. from my experiences so far with the staff and procedures there they've been great.

Well I can tell you I have worked all the floors down to the Er and there are bad nurses, including doctors all over the place. But then, there are really good ones. You can pretty much pick them out by the way they react when you arrive or have been there a day.

Just remember as a patient you now have the right to ask for a different nurse if you feel they are not being compassionate to your needs. You simply ask to speak to the head charge nurse and request another nurse. No major questions should be asked except maybe your reasoning for the request. And you should not be treated differently because you asked. I have found many nurses understand when you request another nurse because they know how the not so nice nurse is.

In their defense, for every bad nurse, there are at least 10 who are really good.

Now, on to Judy. How are you doing today? There is a guy from Cicero here who killed his baby's mother and took the baby. They think he's in the Co area Judy. Here is the link if your interested. So sad. http://video.nbc5.com/player/?id=276973

you're right sandy. i've actually had that happen myself. for some reason your don't put your best foot forward with the patient or family and a change is required. it's happened to my friends too.

i'm going to go into this looking positively. i'm not going to go into the surgery looking to find bad, only good.

i'm staying home today. nothing to do but rest, rest and rest. in fact i'm going to lay down now.

and all these awful stories of these men killing their wives/kids etc. why don't they just do themselves in first. and if they can kill anyone else after that, hey go ahead.

i just don't understand the way men think. it's just too pitiful.

now i'm not asking about anyone else. how's you all's do'in?
cindy, are you staying cool. DM are you camping this wk/e? how's your skin. havn't heard you mention that in a while.

sandy, do you and jim have any wk/e plans? how are you 2 feeling?
curious? taff? koala? anyone else i've missed?

Jim is feeling better Judy, thank you for asking. I called and asked about the sensitivities since I felt the Bactrim wasn't working and sure enough...resistant to sulfur. Hmmm, maybe you don't need to be a doctor these days? lol Anyway, they changed his med to Levaquin. Good thing I called. I made sure to mention the other nurse was supposed to call me last Monday about the sensitivities but didn't. One must be on top of things huh?

I am doing fine and staying cool. The heat is brutal even for those who love the sun. We were supposed to go see Joel Osteen tonight but since Jim isn't 100% and the heat would only do him in we decided to take the loss and stay home. That was fine with me since the United Center is in a bad neighborhood and the show was late tonight.

I posted a thread on my mom. She was dx'd with MG yesterday. So far she is low on symptoms so it's a wait and see game. It's hard to tell what is from the surgery and what is from the MG. I just pray she doesn't progress and get worse. The neuro has decided to not prescribe meds right now unless her symptoms worsen.

See what you asked for? I bet you didn't want all that huh? lol The boys are doing great and are a huge help to me this summer. I love to have them home! haha

Now, you rest and stay healthy until your surgery Ok Judy? Be glad we are so far away or you'd have a bunch of crazy women surrounding you in recovery! hahaha

sorry about your mom sandy. what can they do for that?
what does it mean for her?

now that sounds like a ball. a bunch of you's crazies all trooped around my hospital bed. camping out at nearby retreats and cindy bringing up the rear.
she will have my cardboard judy with her too.

DM will bring up the front, with her princess status and all

My thoughts exactly!

Yes, you go lie down, dear Judy. Take good care of yourself.

Praying for you daily.

I'm glad you've taken a low-key day, dear Judy! Sometimes we just really need one.

Dingbat is off camping, which is to say, she's hanging out a mile away from home in a grassy park with other wannabe campers.

I'm trying to stay cool, it's pretty hot still and the humidity is quite high, so I do what I must to protect myself. I have gone on a sort of swing shift, I get up at 5:00am and spend the early hours outdoors then come in and nap until the evening rolls in, then head back outside. I don't love it, but it's better for me and it helps preserve my sanity. Heck, I felt so good today, I totally forgot to do my laundry!

No need to worry about me, dear Judy, each day has is own bundle of fun.
