sandy...i'm glad jim's visit went well and hope these interventions work for him.

cin...i'm glad you're feeling better. and i hope your med concoction works to improve your pain. i know you will lose the muffin top. send us a pic before you do tho.

i ended up staying home today. i've been up as much as i can tolerate.
i vacuumed, took the scooter back to the car and made a big pot of chili. most of it is going in the freezer.

i also bought some chicken pieces when i went grocery shopping. tomorrow i'm going to make my grandmother's stewed chicken recipe. and that will go in the freezer. so nice to have real food. i hope the recipe works out. i havn't made it before. my brother found it in one of my mom's cookbooks.

monday i'll be out doing errands and tues evg there's a workshop about caregiver help etc. it also applies to single people. it sounds good.

it's sunday and i got an unfortunate phone call this morning at 0845. i thought who the heck is calling me so early on a sunday?

it was my dr. the one who just opened her new practice and was scheduled to move into her new office the end of next month.

she said one of her children was very sick. she didn't say with what and i didn't think it was my place to ask. but, she is closing her practice until he/she gets better. she said it could be 3 mo's, 6 mo's or a yr. she said one of the other drs in her old practice agreed to take me back. i've seen him a few times and he's very nice.

she said he enjoys caring for "older" folks with complicated problems. i'm really glad that i don't have to be pawned off to some stranger. i feel so bad for her. the first thought that came to my mind was cancer but of course i don't know. please send out some prayers for her, her child, and family.
her husband will con't to work, he's my oncologist.

some good news. i saw an ad in the paper advertising a special on room rates for the Broadmoor. i called and cathy and i can keep the room we booked for a decreased price. and we get $75 off at the end of our stay. all in all we saved $255! that will take care of more than our food. maybe the valet and added fees they charge.

i made myself go out and do some errands today. my butt has been killing me. i spoke to my dr about it when she called. she said PT or injections and that the injections would help. i see my neuro in a wk and will see what he wants to do about this yr's mri's. my lower back disc is causing problems.

then i'll make an appt with the pain dr who did my injections last yr. see what he wants to do. OY! i can see $$$ signs already. i'm already in the donut hole and will have to shell out $4000+ before i get out. i've spent $1100 so far and i feel another $1000 coming on fast.

that's enuf news for now. it's plenty for today.
hope you all had a decent wk/e.

Morning everyone. Judy, sorry about your doctor. We'll keep them in our prayers.

Jim's doctor called and is putting in a referral to the orthotic guys for a special shoe or brace for Jim's right foot. He also said the ua I dropped off showed klebsiella and ecoli. Since Jim is not symptomatic we will watch and see and drop a new specimen off at his orthotic appointment. His doctor thinks he could be colonized. I pray he's right since klebsiella is what sent him into kidney failure. So, please say a prayer Jim stays well.

He also mentioned stem cells to us and we said when they have a study Jim is willing to give it a try as long as he is admitted and watched 24/7. The last time Jim did the latest treatment was with chemo and he became very sick within a month (kidney failure). They didn't know back then that uti's were a side effect. Anyway, that's our update.

How is everyone else doing?

Holy cow, Sandy, ecoli????? How? That's freakin' scary! Say hey to Jim and tell him to knock it off.

Sorry to hear about your doc's kid, Judy, that really stinks. Do I gather that the child is expected to recover? I'll add her to my prayer list.

So, I happened upon an old lady also with a rollator today and we had a little game of chicken. I squashed her like a bug. Later, my sister and I were thinking that it would be cool to start a new sport, "Rollator Derby" and our slogan could be, We don't wear helmets, we don't feel the pain. It's a whole new excuse to get a lot of nasty tattoos and to play loud Pink Floyd. What do you all think?

Hiya, Sox!

Hello Judy! Hello All!

Sorry I have been AWOL over here; a thousand pardons.

Thanks for asking about DS, Judy. His appt went ok, the Dr's are saying most probably adhesions caused from his 1994 transplant surgery, so have him on meds to try and relax his insides. He goes back in 6-8 weeks and if things aren't better, he may have to have surgery, which can cause more adhesions. AY YI YI!!!

MIL was in hosp again over wkend and sounds like she will end up having the mastectomy. The ca is in her lymph nodes also, but the Petscan does not show that it has traveled any further. It's been a big strain on everyone and adding her advanced Alz's to the mix makes it all so sad.

I am going to the Univ of Ia on Mar 6, to see the bone specialist for my Osteoporosis. Before I start on another tx plan, I want another opinion and I have alot of trust in Ia City. This Fri DS and I both have eye appts there also. I had my lasik surgery there a few yrs ago and DS had his transplant there.

I feel like a crazy woman lately and am praying that things settle down.
Sandy~ I am keeping Jim in my prayers; he's a special guy. I am amazed at how you tackle those home improvements. You should have a thread "Sandy's Do it Yourself and Save $$$$$" I am helpless in those things. You rock!

Judy~ How's the booty today? You've had your share, my dear. I know your'e looking forward to your yearly vaca w/Cathy. HMHY

AMN~ Just say NO~~~ to Panera Bread. As soon as you get the Bot foot, you'll lose that Kaiser roll in no time.

Hey Sox! Know you've had sick kids, so hope things are better at your house.

Well, Judy dear~~ hang in there and I'll check for you in the hall later.

Take care dear friends!
