Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves is an happy, upbeat song.

Took me ages to think of one! LOL As I said, the Blues makes me happy.

There was a song by an Australian group years ago called Frente. They had a song called Accidentally Kelly Street. It was such a bright and happy new sound at the time but when I read some comments by people on the computer about the meaning of the lyrics, it apparently isn't so happy at all. Weird.

Lara,
"Walking on Sunshine" is nice and energetic.

Yes, some songs have the bouncy, fun rhythm but profoundly sad words. I wonder how the creative process for that works for them. Which Frente song was it?

Actually, I am not sure if this is sad or happy. . . . maybe it depends on what is going on when one is listening.

That's what I think too, Mari. I am an oldie so my love for music was born in the late 60's and early 70's. The time I call The Revolution. lol

I also find some songs take me back to a very specific time in my life.

Music generally is so evocative, reminding us of friends or relationships or where we lived when we first heard it, etc..

One song that does that for me very much is a song by Billy Thorpe called "It's almost Summer". Just have to listen to the beginning of it and I'm off on the sand in the sun watching the ocean maybe eating an icecream or drinking pineapple juice and smelling like coconut oil. The damage we did to our skin! ugh.

In my life, I actually think the 80's had a lot more "happy" [Pop] songs than the 60's and the early 70's but then a lot of the music I listened to was termed "alternative" or "underground" back then. We used to buy a lot of our records from rare music stores who imported music that wasn't played on radio here at the time. It is now of course.

Sorry for the ramble...

p.s. Frente's song is Accidentally Kelly Street

Paul Simon's Graceland is happy song to me.
Jo Jackson's Steppin' Out
The Bangles had some upbeat happy pop tunes. "Just another manic monday".
Karma Chameleon by Culture Club still makes me happy
Belinda Carlyle's Heaven is a Place on Earth
Kylie Minogue's Dancing Queen

I think it's a real shame that people viewing YouTube videos make such rude and crude comments. I've got to the stage I just can't post some songs I like because people have made such lewd comments underneath the videos.

I'm not sure, Mari.

I'll go have a look.

edited: oops, will have to do it later, sorry.
Lull in the rain. Need to get to my car as fast as I can lol.
BBL

Edited later after stressful but quick journey. ugh

Apparently it can be done if you're using Google Chrome with AdblockPlus.

Quote:
On Adblock Plus for Chrome, just head to YouTube, click on the Adblock icon in your navigation bar, and hit "Easy Create Filter". Then, just click on one of the comments and it should highlight all of them. After hitting "Add", you should be free of YouTube comments forever.
I found something else called TweakTube -YouTube Enhancer
It's a Mozilla Extension that goes to AddOns in Firefox (which I use).
I've just added it and trying to figure out all the settings. Not sure I like it at the moment.
I'll let you know if it's ok before you go downloading it.

Just an update...

So I got the YouTube Enhancer - Tweak Tube. It's now in Extensions in Addons in my Firefox settings top left of screen.

Maybe it's just me, but it was all pretty complicated. Trial and error really. There are dozens of settings in the extension so I had to try all of them to see what would change when I refreshed YouTube each time.

I've finally got it working so that all I get on the computer screen is a much larger than usual YouTube screen showing the song or the movie clip. No comments, no ads (yet), no lists and previews of other songs although that may be just the way I have the settings.

I'll keep playing with it when I get time.

Default 5 people 1 guitar

Sad song, great tune.

This is a cover of Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know".
5 people playing one guitar.

indeed, and one's interpretation of the song. i love that entire song though.

for me, it becomes most energizing at this point:
Quote:
I thought that they were angels
But to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship
And headed for the skies
And that high-note variant on the melody on "the skies" is not only a "surprise" (at least on first hearing of the song), but embodies the idea of lifting off, flying away... just ... it really takes me away. i start hearing the subsequent "come sail away" parts as invitations to sail away on the starship... (it is just how it feels).

In this case, it is inconsequential for the purposes of my experience that they are aliens and not angels. It's the simple thought of flying away...
