no more snow....

Well... no snow today after all. :(

just very very light sprying on and off.

tomorrow chance of rain is forecast, but no snow, and the rest of the week, partly cloudy, generally speaking.

:Sigh: I figure we won't be seeing any more snow until next Winter. oh well. :o

Hi, Waves,

I remember that cold rain is yucky to for one who is out and about.
Snow would have been nice.

Indeed! cold rain is about the only weather i don't like. i have been in other types of weather that were inconvenient or uncomfortable but this really takes the cake. it makes me feel irritable, miserable and just...
:(:hissyfit::Bang-Head::Bawling::(
all at the same time.

luckily, I was not out and about today! :D it was a laid back day. watched some tv, snacked on my fennel twists and had a couple beers... tinkered on the 'puter. basically it. i didn't even cook today. we had steak and salad both of which were quick, last minute things that mom prepped.

oh and a bowl of broth with broken thin spaghetti in it, "just to warm us up" ... we changed the air kinda late... and froze our butts off heheh, oops. :D

It's snowing like crazy out there right now. My car is covered in snow, and it's accumulating on the ground.

We had a thunderstorm Saturday afternoon, and it had warmed up. Now it's 34 degrees.

Aww Steve!

Although we didn't get our "promised" snow, we did get the cold snap!
I think our Blackbird must be hiding out with your Spring Peepers, coz I didn't hear a "peep" out of him all weekend! :(

Yes, poor birdies.

Well, at least here it will be warmer soon.
I hope that is the case for you too.
It sounds like you really enjoy the Springtime? :)

Waves,

Isn't it weird that everybody's dinner is steak and salad --- the easier dinner to make?
The broth and noodles was a nice touch.

I hope tomorrow brings nicer atmosphere. http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/computer-11.gif

Rain, umbrellas, and other Spring things

Hi Mari,

We appear to have had a very light dusting of snow overnight - at least, mom thinks it is snow - I thought it was frozen heavy dewfall. (That's how light it is.) Temps now are above snowpoint and it is sprying again and it will probably continue. Looking out at 9:05 am, I see it is a gray day outside, completely overcast.

Nonetheless, I feel like putting some Spring In My Step, and might indeed walk over to the eyeglass place and set the ball rolling. It is a short walk... not a stone's through, but in my down and really not far - closer than the post office.

I have adequate clothing and protection for rain, and since I won't be riding buses etc etc, iI might even "stoop" to using an umbrella if it is called for.

In general, I find it too a bother to carry an umbrella around - it gets wet so it's hard to put inside of bags, even if you do, then it adds weight, if you keep it out, it's cumbersome and one risks setting it down "momentarily" and leaving it someplace. Yes, that is my anti-umbrella spiel.

It's odd really, because as a stand-alone object, I *love* umbrellas. I reall enjoy "umbrella-sighting" when it rains... I appreciate some of the patterns I see. I recall one I had as a child, it had pretty swans swimming around its periphery, and its colors were yellow, red, light blue and white. I loved that umbrella. When I used a car, I was a big fan of umbrellas. Indeed I kept them everywhere: one in the office, at least one at home, and typically two in the car (one to use, and an extra in case the first got displaced. (I lived in a place where rain and consequent umbrella displacement were frequent.)

But enough about uh-humbrellas! :)

=======================

EVERYONE

Here's wishing you all a bright sunny day - or whichever sort of day you'd prefer - perhaps for many that would simply involve some warmer temps than you've been having! ;):):grouphug:

Waves,

COOL.

Go out and execute a task or two.
Report to us about the rain experience.

I agree with the umbrella. Except I tend to "over" carry them if that makes sense. I have at least one (usually more) available to me at any place.
Of course, IF it is raining I might not take it out and open it at all for the fact that it is awk and a little water is o.k.

I do hate the once a year drenching that happens early in a work day when I am not with clothes that can dry out in a becoming way. jk.

Thanks Mari! I am partly washed. MY USB cable that connects me to the internet is flaking out - so it looks like I will also be heading to the store... on the bus. Good news is I've already started getting dressed! :D:)

Oh I know what you mean ... I lived in that general neck of the woods for most of my life. I once ended up with about 5 umbrellas in my car (not on purpose, just by virtue of carrying them there out of possible or actual need, and then not removing them). Somebody from the office saw the "stash" and got a big kick out of it. Asked me what the heck I was doing with them and got an even bigger kick out of the explanation. They couldn't get it. I should have just shut up.

I also carried at least one towel - not because I had read The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, but because I found I had genuine need of one on multiple occasions... Such as getting drenched in a three second dash from office to car (due to my office umbrella(s) having inadvertently ended up in the car ), then needing to to sit my wet self on the dry upholstery to drive home. Or wearing really nice shoes and, in order to preserve them, running barefoot to the car, and having to dry off the feet to drive safely.

Yes, I suppose there are Wellington's but I was always more for the barefoot thing. I suppose I should count myself lucky never to have been hit by lightning in those whereabouts! Not like it was lacking! ;)

Here, I sometimes see umbrellas I like at markets and such, but relucantly pass them by. Even when it "pours" by local standards, it is but a drizzle to me and unworthy of an umbrella, all the more unworthy of the hassle of hanging onto one through crowded public trans in addition to all of one's usual belongings, purchases, etc.. Having a car in which to keep these things. I seriously think people here would drown in a subtropical rain "shower." They have never seen drops as big as one's thumb... I think some would certainly faint, if not drown in that kind of rain.

Quote:

For my current whereabouts, I do well with a waterproof hooded jacket and waterproofed shoes or boots for rain here, as well as clothes which "hold" their form. (Jk or not, some clothes certainly do dry out in a very unbecoming way! :D)

Only once, in the decade I've been away (here), have I caught a drenching here. There was a 30 second anomalous dumping as I was crossing a busy street to catch a tram - no turning back. It was during late spring or early autumn... cool enough to be uncomfortable when wet, and the water itself was COLD... Yuck! 1.5 hour commute home with cold outside as evening rolled in, wet from waist down because my jeans had got soaked and dripped down INTO my boots! :( 'Can't say an umbrella would have helped much in that case, though.

Right... time for.... OMG I was going to say lunch but it's almost time for LOST! (I missed it Friday evening - this is the repeat for that).

Hi,Waves,

What episode are you up to and how many do you see a day?
Do you see like one episode M,T,W,TH? Four days a week?

Thanks Bizi I had a great time out :D

I do hope you get some warm weather if it is still cold in your area. :) I bet your garden will start blooming soon... i wonder if you will take some pix for us of your beautiful flowers? :):heartthrob:

I am good with this cold actually... not really in a hurry for hot weather. It will get hot soon enough, unfortunately the intermediat "Spring" temps don't last as long as they once did in this area. And the heat suxx insofar as we can't combat it: we don't have a/c most places don't have a/c not all buses have a/c and those that do most people don't respect it and open the windows.... sigh... i better not get started... or rather... i should stop.

Anyway, it's not cold per se, but the cold & rain combo I don't like when I need to be out in it, but guess what? Even though it was still cold today no sooner did I set my foot out the door. and.. TA-DAH! The rain stopped! How about that??!!! :D:D

btw we had another sprinkling of snow in between some time this morning but i missed it. seems like our weather is very much sitting on a fence as to what it wants to do kinda like Donna's I guess ;)

not laughing, Mari. :o

I find it hard to catapult myself into cold weather after sleeping next to nil. When I have not slept enough I find I am more sensitive to cold, specifically. Do you get this way too?

I might even feel cold when nobody else does. (I have been laughed at :( for wearing a buttondown sweater or light jacket in summer.)

Yes. When I am operating without a sleep deficit, I can handle the low temps.

I have open toed shoes. Today that will be o.k.
Tomorrow I will wear closed toes but they are by design less comfortable.

Everyone at work will be wearing "funny" clothes.
I will see scarves. . . . some hoodies . . . maybe even shorts.

Tomorrow . . . depending on how early people start their day and how well they slept . . maybe heavier clothes.

DiMarie 04-02-2013 09:54 AM

I am so tired of winter! Snow in all of the last 7 months, below 20* last night. It is almost 11:00 AM and still 22* in our yard, with biting wind. The snow is nearly gone, I nearly see the grass coming through.
Yesterday we had a snow squall, and this morning there was a good dusting over the ground again.

The winter mold on yard is gross. I wish I could go out with just a light jacket out. The only thing to look forward to is a cruise the end of the month. Week in sun and sand.

First stop is Cape Canaveral so still in US waters, hoping it is not raining that day, then off to Nassua and Great Strirrup Cay. I need to just relax and do nothing., no cooking, no laundry, and no running around for work!:)

waves 04-02-2013 11:29 AM

Wow enjoy the cruise especially The Bahamas, Di... great time to go ... still not blistering hot but take care and wear sunblock... even if there's cloudcover the reverb will burn ya there this time of year. Leave the broiling to the crawfish. ;) I do wish you good weather while you're there.

DiMarie 04-07-2013 10:02 PM

Thanks Waves. I still have a base tan from last year. My maternal grandfather was Cherokee so I don't tend to burn as long as I have at least an SPF 15. Last years cruise I bought a dome beach pop up to stay shaded, bet $23 I ever spent. Better then chasing a rented umbrellas.

After the snow squalls last wek, today it almost hit 60*.I can't wait for Spring, it has been a long winter.

Wouldn't you know we might be going to finally see spring.

I'm ready. Its just that first part might be rain.

Oh well that is what I feel like its doing right now to me anyway.

My husbands family farm area, got broken into and he had to spend
the day there yesterday.

Instead of the cleaning that was supposed to happen.

So this morning he got a call at 6:30am that his mother had fallen
again. Ugh, they don't think she needs to go to the doctor.
But I'm not sure the floors will get moped as they were supposed
to by this afternoon still.

Thats life.

Also received word my son's aide just got out of the hospital. Didn't
realize she was in. Knew she was sick, but not that sick.
Ugh, its raining at my house.
