Thanks Bizi, i will.
Hunkering in , ds has work at 4 PM, dh suppose to go in at 7PM. As soon as it starts accumulating, ds will leave, I am hoping. Dh is stubborn enough to think he can make it down off the mountain and home again. Steve, it Looks like about a foot, getting the back side, more then the direct stuff Massachusetts will be getting. Donna, would love to feel some 40's right now. At least brutal cold eased up the last two days to 20's. I hope Derrik feels better soon and doesn't get any worse. |
[QUOTE=DiMarie;955450]Massachusetts will be getting.
[QUOTE] My family members in MA are being told to brace for 60 mph wind gusts (blizard conditions). On Monday, temperatures are expected to be warm (snow and ice will melt) so they are only feeling this concern for two or three days. M |

QUOTE] Dear Di,  The men in our lives do that sometimes . . . keep things exciting by making us worry. I hope you all do fine in the storm. M |
Mari, I hope they are not affected by the trees , losing power for any length of time. Crossing my fingers and sending good thoughts. Ds was smart enough to let employer know how bad it was getting, he is almost home. Dh, just left and drove into the mess, thinks the CRV is a tank I guess.
I am warm and dry, pizza coming with ds, then after news and Jeopardy is Shark Tank. Wow, a plow flipped in VA, did not realize it was bad that far south. |
Yes the 40's is nice. The wind chill was making it the 20's but that was
okay. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
waiting for the storm to hit the east.....
be safe everyone. hope you all don't lose power and can safely stay at home. bizi |
What a powerful Nor'easter!!! I haven't seen one with snow, and wind with our current technology on TV,and the computer images in February. Wow! It's really strong around the North eastern coastal areas. It's moving in the counter clockwise rotation with the back spirals of the storm coming in from the North,to the North West I believe from what I can see.
The people who endured Sandy will have to endure this one (Nemo) too. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Hi, Steve,
The storm is indeed powerful. Mari |
I am eager to see some pictures of the snow.
I guess I have to wait until morning when the new news comes out. Maybe I should go to sleep. Mari |
thought and prayers are with everyone in the northeast.be safe and stay warm.

Cool weather
It will be cooler Friday by 15 degrees than our normal temp.
I have appropriate clothes. What is it about weather changes that make me feel that everything is so hard? M |
Maybe because it's change. I don't like change. It adds one more unpredictable thing that I can't control.
|
i think change can be part of it if it cascades into a change in one's routine. personally i am most affected in late fall when the cold starts to roll in because i have to allocate more time to dress myself, also there are more items to "coordinate" etc...
However, i also think there are physiological reactions to changes in light, temperature, humidity and air pressure. These factors can in turn bring about changes in air quality which may also affect the body, eg: higher or lower content of chemical pollutants, dust, mould spores, pollens... ~ waves ~ |
Hi waves
WE have never had snow down here in recorded memories. Sunday morning we are suppose to get flurries. I covered all my plants up that were tender, and brought all containers inside.
Doc. was good to me this morning. No anxiety specific meds. He upped serequel. I will go with that and see how I do. Monday I see the pain specialist and we will see what she says then. Thank you for your support. We all need that waves, so very much. ginnie:grouphug::hug: |
In my neck of the woods, the weather isn't the same it seems for two days.
So I can totally find what ever kind of weather usually in two days. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
Hi BF, about the weather???
[Nope it isn't normal here. It has never had recorded snow where I live, not ever. Sunday morning we are to have snow fluries. I won't believe it until I see it. Can tell you it is bitter cold tonight, all my plants are shaking in their beds. I used every sheet in the house to cover them up. Brought in all container plants too.
Where I live is considered the very northern most part of the carribean, snow here????? whats up with that????ginnie |
Ginnie,
It has snowed in some carribbean islands before - very atypical but it occasionally happens. the one place i know of i'm not sure if there was more than one recorded instance. i only know of one instance on an island much further south than you though, and flatland too. but it wasn't a lot and it didn't stay. that is what snow flurries are - very light snow dustings that don't tend to leave snow on the ground. your poor plantsies though! i am sure they are shaking in their shoes already!!! they are not used to those kinds of temps! you did well to take the potted ones in, and cover the others - that should will make a cushion of insulated air and should be sufficient to protect them. this should be a transient phenonenon. did they say when temps would be swinging upwards again? ~ waves ~ |
Yep waves....
Come monday the whole thing will reverse and start to warm up for the week. By the weekend we should be back up around 75!.
Thanks for telling me there has been snow down here before. I know tampa has seen it, just not this tiny place I live on. It seems to escape some of the stranger weather. Maybe it is too tiny for the weather to find it!!!! Hope you are OK waves. I sure know you have had some real issues. I care about you too, and hope you feel better soon. We sure need each other don't we? ginnie:hug::hug: |
Thanks Ginnie,
yes it is good to be amongst folks who "get it.":hug::hug: i don't know if i am ok, but eventually it will quit, that at least we can be sure of. :o i am glad your weather is going to be back to normal by monday! i will keep my fingers crossed for your garden, or as you call it, your "jungle" heehee. :D:) ~ waves ~ |
Hi waves
Will keep plants covered through monday. My yard really is a jungle and was designed for privacy. This is a tourist hot spot, and I could have that privacy steps from the beach. However...this jungle will eat me up alive if not controlled. It gets beat back on a regular basis!!!!
Have a good day waves, I hope your troubles get better soon, (mine too) ginnie |
44 right now with a 17 mph wind bringing the windchill temp to 36 degrees. very chilly for here! no snow so can't really complain much with others dealing with snow and much much colder temperatures.
IT is sunny out so that is good! bizi |
Ginnie,
i would uncover the plants as soon as the temps go back to normal because if they are covered and it is warm it will be a big jolt for them, and they will have an even bigger jolt than that procured by the sudden temperature dip. ;) i hope you feel better too. i am having troubles with the coughing now too... getting hyperreactive ... and i haven't been sick or anything like that! i hate not knowing anything. feels like too many things out of control. maybe that's why i had to peel all those peppers today... for a sense of control??:Noooo: :Bang-Head: ~ waves ~ |
Bizi,
i actually like those kinds of temps ... cold enough to wear boots and scarves ... my favorite items of clothing ... but warm enough that you don't FREEZE UR BUTTTTT walking 10 paces outside the door. :D glad it was sunny for you... that does help. i always found something nice about bright, slightly nippy days... find them refreshing... energizing somehow. ~ waves ~ |
Hi waves
You are right about the plants. I actually am taking the sheets off during the day in the 50's and then covering tonight, tomorrow night and monday morning. Will have sheets off each day during the warmer parts.
Had a couple come by to help me prune back this yard. It was so overgrown the last couple to look at the house, their jaws dropped down. So I am bartering for their help. My son came over to help too. There were five of us, and boy did we do a good job. I have some antique furnature from my parents. When I move I won't have room for the things anyway. Wish the world would go back to this barter system. Today was a good one, and it was sunny and a bit chilly. I could never do it in 95 degree weather! Hope you have calmed down too waves. This serequel, has slowed my jets but good. Last night I slept for the first time well in a month. This bi-polar manic state is weird. I guess change, and painful change at that, can set it off. I wish calm thoughts your way right now. ginnie |
Dear Ginnie,
you are taking good care of your plants. yes bartering can be very handy. but if more people used it don't worry - the governments would soon find a way to tax it. :ee::rolleyes: manic episodes can occur spontaenously but can also be triggered by psychosocial trauma. I'm glad the Seroquel is working well for you! :) ~ waves ~ |
Hi waves
[The government and me arn't on good terms right now. I have voted in every election my whole life. I don't think I ever will again. Thinking about the Gov. will make me manic! mad too.... I would not be loosing my home if the Gov. had let me keep what my parents set aside to pay my taxes and insurance on a paid for home. They ignored a legal document, that is medicare office and disability people. I lost all faith in our gov. after that.:( ginnie
|
I did say governments ... plural. i was not referring specifically to the US.
it's a general thing. i don't know a government that doesn't apply taxes one way or another. and as bureaucracy goes, there are flaws and loopholes, and people fall through the gaps. those who can make money twirl on a whim can cushion a fall. the less fortunate, and those with complex situations can end up falling on their face. i'm afraid i expect, at some point, to fall on my face. :o:Nooo: we can perhaps be grateful we both live in civilized areas, where we are allowed to say these things, without being shot just for complaining. ~ waves ~ |
complex situation
Yes, I had a complex situation, several lawyers, a trust, and bad health. Yes I fell on my face, but I do have NT. This is the place to be, for support and kindness through some awful stuff. You are right we can talk without getting shot for it. Lets hope our freedoms in that regard stays. Maybe they will tax our speech???? The air we breathe???? Lets hope not. ginnie:hug:

I'm am pretty sure bartering is taxed -- technically that is. If a person were to report the barter, it would be taxed. M |
Hi, Ginnie,
I hope you can be O.K. The new dose will help. Your plants get lots of attention.   Mari |
heater on at 69 degrees right now
Hi,
It is 69 degrees right now but I turned on the heater to blow the dust off in case I want the heat on later tonight. I have the windows open too --- Hubby is not home at the moment, otherwise I would not be able to do either one of the above. I hate the smell of burned dust and whatever else hangs out in the heater for a year or two. Tonight's expected low temperature is 48 degrees fahrenheit Mari |
Quote:
you know, after i posted, i wondered about that!!! :D:rolleyes: ~ waves ~ |
Hi Mari
No way, they would really tax a barter????:thud::mfr_wha::vomit2::hit-safe::icon_rolleyes: like I said next it will be the air be breathe. Thanks Mari, I am gonna have to be very careful....ginnie

i am glad you have this little "window" when he is absent and you can clear out those vents, and get some fresh air into the apartment. we "change" the air every single day. if the temps out are harsh one way or the other, we have to pick our times carefully, and do it quickly with multiple windows open and we turn on the bathroom vent and/or fans to help draw air currents through. Quote:

Funny too because that is our expected high for tomorrow! With windchill factor considered, they are saying 43°F. Our low for tonight is 37.5 - just above snowpoint but we have clear skies, so no snow. It should remain clear for a while. I keep telling myself i need to get outside in this weather. I think it could be a ticket to feeling good. But i keep not doing it. Maybe I can find myself an errand. i used to really enjoy these temps - which were only occasional - when i lived in Florida, because i could break out the gloves... on top of boots and scarves which i wore a lot regardless. :D ~ waves ~ |
Quote:
yah def don't post personal details you never know where theyr'e gonna look!:Noooo: The air is pretty heavily "taxed" in most places... just by all the pollution and chemicals from automotive emissions and industrial waste to bug containment, fertilizer and who knows... if they add a fiscal charge to all that i guarantee, there will be a global revolt! :D btw, i am grateful in my whereabouts they fertilize by scattering manure. i tell ya, when they lay that stuff down it stinks to High Heaven, but at least it is not harmful to the person! :D:p ~ waves ~ |
Quote:
Yes. Find an errand. That would be good. :D :) Quote:
In an earlier post you mentioned how because in the winter you wear more items, the coordination takes more effort. That is true and maybe why I hate cool days -- they require too much thought about dressing. Hot days are easy. M |

he hates the lizards
Quote:
Yes, I had a window of opportunity and shut the sliding glass doors and windows But now there is a lizard trapped between the screen door and the sliding glass door. I hope that the little critter knows how to get back out. I guess Hubby is right --- he tells me that the lizards come in when I open the class door. Hubby hates those little beings. He will knock over all manner of furniture to try to kill them. M |
Quote:
If i were your neighbor you could knock on my door, and i'd come catch it for you and set it outside. Without defurnishing the place, i might add. When i was a kid, there was one house where lizards would enter through our air conditioning units (and possibly other places) regularly. we lived there a long time and i have always liked lizards.... Result, every time one was sighted it was my job to find and it and return it to the outdoors. i did that for years. and later did it in my workplaces too because most men didn't care and most women went "eek, ewwww, get it away from me." so i am a very experienced and adept lizard-catcher :) ... i could even provide references :D :ROTFLMAO: alas, i cannot catch it through the forum for you. are you afraid of lizards? would you be comfortable handling it to put it out? if so, i can give you some general tips... :o ~ waves ~ |
