Feels cold

Hi,
Lows in 30s tonight. 'Supposed to warm up to near 60 in the day time.

Can I stay home in bed instead of going to work? It's too hard to figure out what I can wear that does not look silly.

cold and snow and clothes and silliness

wow we have not gone under freezing yet, that i know of. at least not during the day.

but it has been snowing...... not so much the nice flaky stuff. it does that at night. then in the day switches to the wet stuff that melts on you, melts on the ground and you have to tramp around in dingy slush. blech. thank goodness most of my commute is in the subway. :D

i am still adjusting to clothing too. i feel silly a lot.

i finally figured out i could take in the legs of the pants i mostly wear so they don't balloon out of my boots - which i think looks really goofy and not in a good way. it didn't bug me so much before - not enough to mess with trying to fix them - but in a business environment it was making me very self conscious. so far i've just got the black pair basted. no telling how long it will be before i make it permanent. you can't tell from the outside anyway. :D

It's blistering cold here... last few mornings the temp has been in the single digits... and is 19 degrees right now, with the wind it feels like 8 degrees. It didn't get over 17 degrees yesterday.

The Weather Channel is calling for 4 to 6 inches of snow here early next week... Guess that means I will be slipping and sliding to my Pdoc appointment... weeeeee.... :D

Brokenfriend 12-08-2010 12:30 AM

It's close to 12:30 AM,and it's 24 degrees. The weather people are calling for rain this Sunday. With the weather being so cold,it could turn into snow,or sleet. We had a little snow on Saturday night. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Willie's has hundreds of songs in his memorys. I never heard that one. Thank you Mari.

It's 19 degrees right now. That isn't to bad. If it where 5 degrees, and the wind where blowing, that would be very uncomfortable. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 04-05-2011 01:06 PM

We are under a weather alert for strong storms for the next half hour: lightening, hail, wind, funnel clouds, torrential down pours.
I have to go out on the roads for an appt.

The alert says that lightening is the number one weather related cause of death in FL. Not helpful. . . . . feeling anxious about stuff in general and in particular anyway. Time for Klonopin.

Maybe I should get dressed and leave right now before it gets worse outside.

bizi 04-05-2011 01:26 PM

yes that sounds like a good idea!
be safe!

I hope everyone is safe and happy on this terrific day.

I have had to cancel a workshop tonight that I was to help with.
But my cold and head just don't like me to well today. But the
weather is really nice for once.

I have to admit its been cold here. And I was getting worried that
it was going to stay that way.

Today is a great day, its the day the lord decided the world needed
a Donna.

smoky skies

We have been under a weather alert because air quality is poor due to nearby fires.

I asked hubby not to go jogging when they are advising people to stay inside. He got so witchy. I said never mind. He decided to go to the gym to jog.
Fine.

bizi 05-12-2011 11:10 AM

El Nino La Nina

I hear that we are in the La Nina weather period of the El Nino/La Nino cycle. It has to do with the waters of the South Pacific,West of the upper part of South America warming,or cooling off causing the weather to cause these type of problems.

It's very complicated. I think that I started this thread, and am going to read what I posted.

I recommend that people would do a study on this subject because of it's complexity. I couldn't write about it in a few words, and I still don't have full understanding of what it is. BF:hug::grouphug::hug:

DiMarie 06-02-2011 12:14 AM

BF, dd had this in her science class last month. I will get the book out and have her explain it to us in her words. lol.

We were hotter here then in Orlando recently. Terrible thunderstorms, 3 inch hail destroyed 150 cars in a new dealership....scratch and dent sale, their words not mine.

Some are just getting power back from a few tornado's last week. Today we had a terrible thunderstorm with hail, the streets flooded. I had to reroute home from an insurance claim.

sons home is finally up and the keys today....but waiting for utilities tomorrow. Suppose to have finished today.....Glad that the heat is dropping from some Canadian air. I would hate to move in that heat.

I have to drive to York, PA tomorrow and then go out to the Pocono's for claims. All that driving alone, ANXIOUS...I hate the trips and need a driver with my neck and hand problems. dh has to work midnight so I can't ask him to take me. It is on Interstate I-83 in York to take photographs of an accident scene, but scared of the traffic to get the photos.
Say a prayer, send supportive thoughts, for safe travel.
I would hate to melt down and sit there for family to come get me.

it has cooled down to 92 maybe we can go for a walk in a while.

OhKay 06-03-2011 10:53 AM

I thought you all would be interested to know that we had tornado activity here in Massachusetts Wednesday...
I haven't watched the news since then, but I heard that there were 2 separate touch downs, 19 cities/towns were affected, and there were at least 4 casualties.
It's unheard of here.

Mari 06-05-2011 02:37 PM

Kay,
I saw that on the tv. My sis used to live in one of the towns that got hit.
That is some amazing weather.

M.

OhKay 06-05-2011 04:45 PM

Yea, it was amazing.
I feel so bad for all the people affected. Talk about unexpected!

The damage wasn't too far from here, but we only had thunderstorms... I've NEVER seen lightning like that.

Dmom3005 06-05-2011 11:37 PM

Man, who would like or need rain. I'll send this weather your way.

We had rain in the home area and north yesterday, many area's had
tornadoes touchdown. Some just winds. A co-worker that I do lots
of trainings with had a tree on top of her house. Luckily a few members
of her Husbands church came today and got it down.

But I just don't get this. The town that got hit a weekend or two
ago. Got hit again yesterday. And at least two more of my towns
I go too.

Good thing I'm not traveling. It did make weather for olympics nicer
today. till the rain came.

Donna:grouphug:

OhKay 06-06-2011 10:55 AM

Wow, the poor people in that town being hit twice by tornadoes!

There is a new program on the national geographic channel about all the tornadoes in April of this year- a record breaking month. It's mostly footage from people near the tornadoes and stuff from the news too. I've watched parts of it twice- it's riveting.

I'm glad you and your family are safe, Donna.

bizi 06-06-2011 10:23 PM

We have had blistering heat and finally had .25 inches of rain and brought the temp down to 73 degrees, nice walk tonight!
bizi

OhKay 06-07-2011 01:03 PM

85 today, tomorrow is supposed to be 94, Thursday 95. Hot for around here.

I'm going to have to stay in, hiding in the AC. MS and high temps don't mix.

I'm going to have to shave my legs- quite a project!

DiMarie 06-07-2011 11:04 PM

Heat is hitting us today, Wednesday too. In the mid 90's. I have to go back down to York. Photo's of the tractor trailers in the accident on Memorial day,

dh did drive me last week, then to Stroudsburg claim. He had work at 10 pm to 6 am, but slept until we left, so that was over 12 hrs of sleep.

I hate the thought of going in that heat...and the crazy tractor trailer drivers on that area. Last trip a really aggressive and weaving tractor almost pinned us against the barrier. He was really bad.

I am off to bed, better get an early start.
di

OhKay 06-08-2011 12:47 AM

The weather man lied....
My weather app said it was 83 out. Didn't want to shave legs, so I wore jeans...
It was 94! I didn't have the energy to change, so I just suffered.

Be careful Di!

DiMarie 06-10-2011 09:59 PM

I do not get how dh can wear jeans in this heat wave. It must have been miserable. Today was a cool down, the storms came through and dropped hail, winds, rain cats and dogs....
But today was 10* cooler and humidity dropped. Just in time for the Nascar Race this weekend. dh, ds and dgs are going to time trials tomorrow. temp, is to be only 78* but the asphalt will be a killer. ds had heat exhaustion real bad 4 years ago.

This year I have sunscreen he will wear, gatorade, and hats.
di

PS we are going on a cruise to Bermuda next weekend, Sunday to Sunday. I hope the weather is great for that. Starting to get clothes ready. I refuse to buy anything new, but the bathing suit.

bizi 06-11-2011 12:07 AM

oh di, you deserve to have some fun...this past year/s have been hell for your family.
I hate bathing suit shopping.

Mari 06-11-2011 12:24 AM

Dear Di,

Enjoy Bermuda. :heartthrob:

M

OhKay 06-11-2011 11:37 AM

Di, We went on that 7 day Bermuda cruise several years ago and had a fabulous time! I'm sure you will too.

I agree with Bizi, bathing suit shopping is the worst! I'm sending you good vibes so that you will have an easy shopping experience :winky:

DiMarie 06-11-2011 02:24 PM

Very emotional,
I am looking forward to the trip, bitter sweet. Yes so need it. heavy hearted, weepy day.
I do have to start getting ready.
Wonder what to pack, it is free styling. Is it humid, 80*'s, too cool to swim on board? Getting to a beach in Bermuda, how much cash a day for drinking, soda, off ship,

I think I am weepy for a few reasons. This is the trip De wanted.
The bathing suit is one of the worst. With thyroid, water retention from kidney issues. ERGH
Wish I could take some ham hocks off, few butt roast on each cheek; a rolled roast from the mid section, 5 lbs of breast meat, picnic arm roast off each side,

General melt some fat away....I am 45lbs heavier then we started dating 32 years ago.

bizi 06-11-2011 03:39 PM

Mari 06-11-2011 04:30 PM

Dear De,

Buy yourself two beautiful coverups for the pool. Find a stylish hat for the sun.
You are not going to be in the water much anyway, but you might like to hangout at the pool area.

It's going to be humid and breezy on the boat.

This pages states average temperatures for June:
http://www.bermuda-attractions.com/bermuda_000153.htm
High 81 F Low 73 F
With the humidity, it might feel hotter.
It it rains it will be cooler for a little while.

De,

Which Cruise Line are you using?

You can ask the company about how much money and stuff. Also we there are cruise forums that can help with the questions.
