Stay safe, and check in when you can.
Will be saying prayers for all that are affected. Donna:grouphug: |
Oh my gosh this is such a big storm....stay safe to all of those effected by the storm.
sending good thoughts (((((HUGS))))) bizi yes check in when you can. |
It's just been cloudy, and we had sprinkles, and wind. It looks like the line of the storm is going to be a little more North on the map then they thought before. I'm in Virginia. I'm still trying to figure out what the storm is going to do. It's massive out at sea right now. It's a slow mover. Wise County in Virginia has received some snow due to the storms interaction with other weather conditions.
This is one strange storm. It looks like the New Jersey shore line, and New York are going to get clobbered by this storm. I don't know what it's going to do here in Virginia. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
7.7 earthquake yesterday on the northwestern coast
|
Hi,
That is huge. I hope folks are O.K. M |
Checking in on the coast residents, it must be getting rough out by he shore.
Late tomorrow it will go right over us. I don't much wind yet, tomorrow will be worse for two days. The power company had a robo call to let us know the power outages could be a week. We are so forested I am Leary of the trees there is a 50+ ft one by the new home the neighbors were to remove after Irene last year! At least the county did have to evacuate the entire valley like last years hurricaine Irene,. That must mean the river is very low. But will the levy system that is compromised from Irene be okay. It will be a lot of rain, but it is the winds, plus being in the mountains, temperature drop could mean snow. We are hearing 6-8 in of rain...the winds here are about 9 mph but an hour away they are 25 mph already. I can imagine the insurance claims again. Just finished reopening a fire hall and post office on one of my claims, and they are still sitting on top of a stream that floods. It was a ft from the 12 ft ceiling last year. Today I am making chicken soup, and bake a ham. That will keep us going few days. The stove is gas, and the generator will provide heat and keep the refrigerator/ deep freeze on. This time tomorrow will be in the height. Keep you posted. Di |

The start of winds picking up roar through the mountain trees. They are already weaving like a really stormy day and it has not even hit land yet. Unfortunately turning and coming north over us. I am really concerned now about the trees and power more then rain.
Update tonight if I can. Di Edit to add, so many without power, the trees are taking a beating with the wind. The rain ihad not neen the downpour that I expected, until now! We have the generator ready to go, hoping I don't need it. The main office, co owner of worked called. They are in Baltimore and lost everything but cell phones. I am the only one with power to receive Fax documents on a direct phone line. I am hearing how bad it is compared to Irene, less the rain totals locally. It is just starting to really pelt and whack the house. Dh has been taking extra work, security over night at a mini mart...not happy about it, nor about being home to take care of the generator if power ..when power goes off. Older son is next door, but stil wish he was going to be here over night. We are getting that east side of the storm as it comes up this way. Passing to our west about 60 miles. Guess that is where this driving rain and sustained winds are coming from. Another day of this, oh my! Prayers for those in NY,, along the coast, and being hit so hard. |
My Noaa alert radio said during the day that there was a blizzard warning. We didn't get it. It's 44 degrees.
I believe that we dodged the bullet. We had a little rain, wind, and drizzle. That's about it. Hey DiMarie. You probably got the storm. Please let us know how things are going when you can. Hey Bobby. Are you OK? What's happening there? Please let us know when you can. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
