Mari - we have a full basement, and we've already talked about going down there during the worst parts of the storm.

On another subject, my poor granddaughter broke her right arm, right above the elbow and had her cast put on yesterday. Poor baby- she was holding on to our big dog's long leash when he took off after a thrown stick, and jerked her down to the ground. The big dog, Stitch, weighs 100 lbs and is very strong, but gentle.

Hope you don't mind my intruding here... just wanted to say I'm thinking of everyone in the path of the hurricane. It's a very scary experience, I know.

love to all.

Same from me too. I'll be keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers. Praying that the hurricane causes nil to minimal damage and that nobody gets hurt.

Default my two brothers

Hi,

I have two brothers who will get wet from the storm but are not near the hurricane force winds as far as I can tell. One brother had planned to travel from a few states away to see the New York Mets play this weekend. The game is postponed. The Mets?? Really? My own brother is a Mets fan . . . . rather embarrassing.

My sis says that Dianne Sawyer explained on ABC that the storm is the size of Arizona. I guess that is a good way to explain the time line: the entire state of Arizona has to move through a particular spot at 12 miles per hour.

Jacquie you are at ground zero for a hit. I am seeing Phila already getting rain and it is still strong in N.C. What a huge storm.
BrokenFriend in VA must be feeling full effects now too, hope if he lost his power it is back on soon. Thinking of you BF and all others affected.

We are to get between the 4" of our west and 8" of the east. On top of saturated ground. The springs are running out of the mountain like little fountains from all the summer rain of August. There are huge 40+ tall trees on the mountain behind us. With the elevated winds, I worry for the shingles, windows and power.

Those closer to the shore will certainly have it very bad. We are east of Interstate 81, I hear the weather channel saying close to the line of better and worse edge. Hope it is the better edge. I heard one reporter say it is like 100 mile wide "0" tornado working its way up.

Be safe friends and their family.
Back to watch more on the weather channel. Keeping a look out for BF and then Jacquie. any one else check in too...

Hey Di So far,so good. I am to the far west of the Interstate 95 area. I haven't had much of a problem yet. Its just windy, and rainy right now.

Earlier the power went out three times, and came right back on.

I think lower Manhatton is going to have a problem. BF

hi all...just checking in. the storm knocked out all electricity and water around me since saturday. I didn't have a phone, no food, no water or electricity. I was all alone in my home...needless to say I didn't do well with it. I had several manic episodes and outbursts. I am ok...it just came back on so I am about to shower. I have a problem with not being able to wash my hands frequently.... hope everyone else is fine. I am still emotionally out of it...however I am physically fine.

Red face

HI ladydeedee I hope that you are getting back to normal with less stress.

We are expecting crazy rain over the weekend with a tropical storm coming in saturday am....actually it is supposed to start raining tonight. We need the rain but not 15 inches!

If we could just funnel this over to texas that would be dandy.
Our neighbor has a dead tree that may fall on us..we just put together a letter to send to her. Several limbs have already fallen on our property and damaged a bit of our shed. may have to take her to small claims court. Our home owners insurance only covers wind damage after we pay a $3,100 deductible...ouch!
We shall see what mother nature has in store for us.
