yes that is one thing that I need to do is slow down when eating, they say that you are full after 20 minutes of eating....
thank you for posting this. bizi starting day 5...last day with PT jay...then one more week with another PT.. I think that I will just need to continue building up the muscles in my shoulder and arm which will take time. my turkey meat loaf was edible....needs help, will top with salsa next time, it was over cooked and very dry, too much cilantro, not enough onion. sigh, made up the receipe...oh well, something different. Hubby did not complain too much. Shrimp tonight! have a great healthful day! |
I looked back at my notes...I actually started dieting on March 11th that is when I weighed myself. So I am useing that date.
So far I have lost 3 pounds. Which I am very happy about. It may be water weight but still seeing the scale weigh less is motivating to keep trying. bizi |
!0 top veggies from real age, living strong!
If you're a broccoli lover, you've picked a winner. From a list of 10 of the most commonly consumed vegetables in the country, broccoli holds the top spot for having the most phytochemicals -- compounds everyone's urged to consume because they protect against chronic diseases. At the bottom of the list? Cucumbers, described by some people as "water you can eat."
The 9 runners-up to broccoli were spinach, yellow onions, red peppers, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, celery, and cucumbers. Red peppers actually beat out broccoli in terms of having the highest levels of antioxidants. The same researchers also have rated 10 of the most popular fruits. Cranberries -- with the most phytochemicals and the most antioxidants -- topped that list, followed by apples, red grapes, strawberries, peaches, lemons, pears, bananas, oranges, grapefruit, and pineapple. Food scientists aren't ranking veggies just to satisfy their curiosity, by the way. They're contemplating a bioactivity index (BI) for dietary cancer prevention to help grocery shoppers quickly spot the fruits and veggies that have the biggest health benefits. |
Friday nite out with friends....outside down town live concert, drank gin and diet tonic water, very satisfying, Had left over meat loaf with salsa which improved it 100%. went to chilis later than like at 8;30....ugh! was very good had a bowl of chicken green chile soup.
I survived going out!!!!! and still stayed in my limit!!!!! It was hard watching them eat desert..... I will stay on this diet.... getting ready to have my 2 dark chocolate kisses...very satisfying I might add. already planning my day for tomorrow. shrimp boil with corn potatoes and zuchini for dinner. I JOINED THE GYM TODAY!!!!! bizi:D |

That was good that the meat loaf came out well this time. :) M. |
I WENT TO THE GYM!!!!!:D
and walked at 4mph on the tread mill 25 minutes= 1.5 miles. lifted some weights but should wait for instructions first don't want to hurt myself. I will ask on monday how do you go from therabands to weights? cooking a shrimp boil with little corn on the cobs, small red new potatoes, zuchinni....ready in just minutes... we are going to go see alice in wonderland tonight! |
Dear Beth,
How did Sunday go? Did you have a good day? M. |
my day went well, did not have as much to eat rather drank my calories( ginn and diet tonic water with diet cranberry juice.) tonight instead...still with in my guidelines but not the best nutrition. Will have more veggies tomorrow. I found these flat breads that are low calorie and high fiber that I like, had an egg and salsa wrap that was very good this morning, then pork chop and veggies, brocolli for dinner. I have been eating 2 meals and a snack.....watched the new moon twilight movie tonight with all of the extra features...great stuff!
|
Dear Beth, I like salsa with lots of stuff -- eggs sometimes, also, chicken breasts, . . Hubby made Talapia and stir fried some green beans. M. |
I have been eating pretty nutritionally.
I had biscuits for breakfast. A chicken pot pie from Kentucky Fried for lunch. And spaghetti for supper. Donna |
yesterday I went to the gym, walked 30 minutes on the treadmill, and actually swam 10 lenghts of the pool breast stroke!!!!the water was warm so tht was good. Had PT and then went to a book discussion group..."like begets like", law of attraction stuff...good book! Lots of positive energy. We held hands and meditated about our chakras...I like these people. Very supportive and nurturing. Still sticking to my diet.

still hanging in there, it is getting harder to stay the course.
I wlked too much on the tread mill on wed. my right hip hurts and my left lcalf is stilll sore. am going to the gym saturday....will try to not do the tread mill so hard, jsut take it easy or maybe do some other cardio machine. I splurged wednesday night with my girl friend from the cruise, chere, we went out for sushi...so good but very fattening with all of the sauces....boy was it good and the martinis were good too! I made up for the calories the rest of the week. I went to my pdoc appt yesterday got a clean bill of health, she was amazed at my HDL being 129...said tht I have good genes! Thanks mom! have a good day! bizi |
well I made it to the gym on saturday.....ate twice as many calories as I should have but thoroughly enjoyed them....we had an out of town guest.
Had crawfish, potatoes, corn, beer, wine and then too many mudslides! so I threw the rest of that away when I realized just how fattening they are. This morning went to eat with our friend to eat a big breakfast(1,000 calorie), lunch actually. and I had 4 servings of turnip greens(that is alot of greens!) for dinner so that I could have 1 beer. But I stayed with in my calories....:) tired of me yet? I am posting some in the weight loss forums to see if anyone else is counting calories. My mom is counting carbs so we are both dieting. Maybe I will be thinner when I go to my nieces wedding in june???? bizi |

So I am wondering what is your goal in weight lose. I have already lost almost 40 lbs. And my goal is to lose 30 more lbs at least. Donna |

Today was bananas with some peanut butter rotisserie chicken huge salad california rolls from the grocery store I sort of took off part of last week. I'm back on the plan. M. |
that is fantastic donna!!!!!!
my goals are several. I want to eat more nutritiously...more whole foods less processed ones. After I finish the low calorie/carb atkins drinks and protein waters....I am switching to organic milk. It has the same number of calories and better nutrition and costs alot less! I just read last night that splenda is more chemically similar to a pesticide than a sugar. I am stopping the use of all artificial sweeteners. Black coffee for me from now on. I want to lose 20 pounds total. I think I have lost 5 so far (since march 11th). never really know about those first 5 pounds...water weight? I want to be a stronger woman. I am a weakling! so am lifting some weights. and have swam twice (froggie style)since joining the gym. tonight, tred mill 30 min, bicyle 10 min, swam 20 lengths, few weight machines, showered there and home it took me over 2 hours to do all of that! following my calorie diet.....not eating any fruit....sigh sipping a fair beer....I allow myself one now. bizi |
:)I just weighed myself, I have lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks!
|
Hi
Donna, wow 40 lbs is a lot of weight! Congratulations! :)
Beth, that's great - you're 30% of the way already! with your activity level, i bet the other 14 lbs will melt right off! ;) ---------------- i walked 25 mins today (to the store). and yesterday i went to the post office and back (about 10 mins each way) very brisk on the way there, because the P.O. was about to close. then, pdoc visit... so got a little more activity there too. wanting to run/jog, but not gonna try it. don't want to mess up my feet and not even be able to walk. we'll see how the walking goes and then... maybe... esp. if i lost some weight, because then jogging would be much less problematic on the feet too. i'm not really on a diet but i have been trying to eat better and comfort-eat less and pick non-junk foods if i do. i don't get much fruit either... but i drink fruit juice, and i get lots of raw and cooked veggies. when i went to pdoc i stopped and got some arugula and fresh spinach to add to our lettuce for dinner. makes it yummy and much more nutritious. :) ~ waves ~ |
good for your walking!!!!!!! dear waves!!!!!!!!
we have to start slowly. like you said you DON,T want to reinjure your feet! Jeff likes argula and yes it adds nutritious value to any salad or jsut steamed by itself. I like all sorts of greens these days, collard, mustard, turnip, kale and chard, spinach, they are all so good for us!!!! they are super foods anti aging foods that we should be eating lots of regularly!!!!!!! I have a head of cabbage that I am not sure what to do with.... I wacked my hand on the treadmill tonight, TWICE!!!!! ouch my index finger knuckle is all swollen.... I am thinking that I will concentrate on swimming...it works out my shoulder and cardio at the same time.....it feels good to swim. I swam 30 lengths tonight, 15 laps of free style and breast stroke, I bought goggles and used them for the first time since high school! was at the gym 2.25 hours...this working out stuff is really a commitment! bizi |
thanks Beth :)
no walking today... umm, i was supposed to take a quick amble down to the bar to get my phone charged (i know it sounds weird, bar, phone charge - but that's where they sell them and drinking is not involved lol) but i didn't... or haven't. but tomorrow is supposed to be sunny again (rain today) and i promised my mother i would go to the other store (walk) to pick up some things she needs. dad tried to go today in the rain but i managed to dissuade him and said i needed to go tomorrow so i would get exercise. i can't seem to walk for the sake of it, but if there is a purpose, i seem to be able to do it, even if pulling teeth, at the moment!:eek::o eating well... had more salad this afternoon gotta eat up the greens today they are wilting! :) ~ waves ~ |
Cereal for breakfast.
Not sure what the lunch was called but it was good. I ate a small amount. Then had a peanut butter sandwich for supper. Donna:grouphug: |
2 rye crisp crackers with 4 tablespoons of humus,
3 oz of rose mary chicken 1 1/2 cups of steamed asparagus 1/2 cup of fresh srawberries 1/4 cup of each blue berries and raspberries, previously frozen. what a great dinner!~ drinking a beer and 2 dark chocolate kisses for desert. jEff and I walked after dinner for about half an hour. bizi |
I was actually able to go to applebees and have a steak dinner=
7 oz of sirloin steak with asiago cheese on top 2 boiled potatoes 1 cup of mixed veggies. all for only 390 calories!!!! or if carb counting=26 carbs!!!!!!!! It was very good and satisfying. enough left that I can have one of my favorite beers left hand milk stout!!!!!! bizi |
Dear Donna and Bizi,
You two are doing great!
Keep going. M. |
I'm just working through what I can find to have good meals.
I have high bad chlesterol. So I'm on Lipoter now. Donna:grouphug: |
wednesday today is the 27th day of my diet.
I am all consumed.... 3-11-10 starting diet, 3-15-10 started counting calories.... how do people do it? for any length of time.... I don't understand how I am supposed to eat all that I am supposed to be eating on 1200 calories? ok now I am whining.... no body is holding a weapon on me to do this right! I am doing it to myself. I think about food all of the time! maybe I should go up to 1500 calories, less weight loss but more food!!!! there is always that option.:o It is like I am challenging myself to be this strict....that it is only for a short amount of time.... I miss my blue berry beer....:( tell me it is worth it! bizi I am exercising 3 times a week somaybe I should be eating more? |
Beth,
Did you check an online chart for your weight and height and activity level to come up with the 1200 calories? It's not really supposed to be a race. Be patient with yourself. Maybe plan for the beer three times a week on days when you exercise -- something like that. You might check out Weight Watchers online. You can go to the message boards for free. If you pay to join you get the online journal and the rest of the plan. Or you might like to go to the weekly meetings. Their plan works for some people. If you have been successful in other group work, you might do well with this as well. Quote:
M. |
yes I went to one site and did the enter in your weight and activity level and desire to lose 2 pounds a week and they said I should be eating
only 1,020 calories a day. to lose one pound a week is 1500 so I went inbetween. and yes you are right about the exercising. maybe I could plan on a beer after I get home from exercising. thanks for the suggestion! have a great day! bizi |
I have not done as good dieting this week. But it will get better.
I had subway yesterday. And then I had lasagna for dinner today. I did have lunch but don't remember what. I had donuts just a few for breakfast. So I'm off my diet a little. I will need to find a way to find more good foods. I'm tired of what I have to eat. Donna |
Dear Donna,
Are you the main cook in your household? Are you out on the road during much of the day? M. |
Quote:
And yes some days I'm on the road more than others. On those days I eat nutritionally. Donna |
Dear Donna,
Are you saying you eat better when you are on the road than when you are home? M. |
I ate an 8 ounce rybeye steak!!!!
am afraid to look up the calories....yikes! bizi |
Beth,
Take it easy on yourself. M. |
Yes I eat better on the road than at home. I need to do a better job
shopping. Donna:grouphug: |
