Hi,
This study showed that mice responded well to Omega 3. I take fish oil or flax seed oil or both whenever I remember --- which is about 4 days a week. I take the pills with food ---- this makes it hard to remember --to have to deal with food and pills at the same time. Maybe I don't need the food and pills at the same time. Does anyone know? M. I take a handful of vit and sup, have to take mine with food or they upset my stomach.

I took it for nearly 2 years and never felt its power...

i think the "trick" for mood success is in the dosage.
i don't know recall the daily dosage in terms of EPA and DHA respectively, but you have to take a good amount. i forget the dose, but the ones i was taking if you took a capsule a day it was nowhere near enough. it was like i had to take 2 of those dang torpedos THREE TIMEs a day (with each meal). and the same with Borage oil (O6) when i took that. i never managed more than 4 a day of either. and i couldn't keep it up very long either... heard it can take up to 3 months for the system to respond. i maybe did it for a month. i recall mrsD suggesting Krill oil being more "efficient" in terms of a source for these but i am a bit concerned about the little critters (Krill) becoming extinct... maybe if i they would farm it and not depleting natural resources. but the other thing is i haven't been able to investigate availability/convenience where i live - just too dang busy and exhausted lately. ~ waves ~ |

I've been worried about Krill in the oceans as well. I asked a bipolar chemist on line one time about fish oil and krill and whether we had an appropriate substitute for it, given that the oceans are being over fished. He has a sciency answer that I did not understand. He seemed to be saying that we some possibility in the future of solving this. When I remember, I take my vit D3 and then either krill oil or fish oil and two pills of flax seed oil (the flax is cheaper than the fish or krill). I take the fish / krill oil aware that I am not taking doses high enough to improve mood. I had a dentist tell me fish oil helps gum health. My pdoc told me he took it for good brain health. M |

from what little I can piece together and I am no expert, omega 3's off set the acid base balance, We need a ratio of 3:1 omega 6's to 3's...so this is why it is important to take supplements and eat salmon and other fatty fishes. my health food store people are telling me bits and pieces so is mrs doubtfire. It is difficult to understand. It is also anti inflamatory so helps with that, and helps to prevent osteoporosis, helps with many areas of our bodies.

Right, Omega 3 is anti-inflammatory and Omega-6 is pro-inflammatory (Or was it the opposite !?

I am not sure of the ratio, I know that I probably don't eat enough fatty fishes so I take fish oil capsules when i eat a good breakfast or take them with dinner like right now...I forget often...
