Default My son Devin

I need some thoughts,

Devin is 26, he has migraines, or did. Not sure if he still does.

He has a 4 1/2 year old that probably has apraxia. And 3 step daughters.

He has a technical degree in maintanance and a associates in industrial maintanance. At least I think those are the names.

But with the economy he has not been able to get a start in his field. He talks about going back to school for another field. But doesn't start.

But he has been working for temporary agencies. And is right now not working. I am not sure how to help him. But to keep supporting him.

He just doesn't seem to want to go out anymore. I think he is depressed
to a degree. And its not helping at all. I don't know exactly what to
do. Same things apply to the hubby at times.

Ugh, I hate the economy.

I hate the economy right now too donna.
Depression can take the life out of you....perhaps he could talk to a counselor at a local school...what other areas would he want to work in?

He is interested in Computers, always has been. But doesn't have
a clue what to go into.

I wouldn't have a clue what to tell him.

And I am not exactly encouraging that. I have a computer programming
associates degree, that I personally never exactly used.

I used it for a different way. It was more for other things. I just
couldn't seem to get a job using it for my talents.

Just thinking out loud as I rething my oldser son.
His interest may be in computers, but right now is it an overload? or did his not find a job in that industry due to lack of openings.

My 28 yr old works pt. He was in computer area years ago, then security. The security is not tough on the brain or body for him. He is getting over the depression but still has the physical problem of seizures and cardiac problems.

Now he talks of going to license as Massage Therapist. It is a 2 year program, but after not finishing the computer course voc rehab paid for I wonder if he can get financing for this.

So like you, I want him working self sufficient, but it has to be a realistic goal. I do not want to worry the second training wll fail,
I wish he would do more security, but some jobs they take advantage of him. Working too many hours, or he is alone if having a seizure. they found him on the step of guard shack one midnight shift and thought he as asleep being disoriented, the last thing he recalls was everything going far away. He lost the job.

So now I am trying to figure out another grown son's life so one day when I am gone he will be able to take care of himself and or a family.

Not sure what to tell you Donna, if school is good, but not good is staying home. He has to do something to get out and have at least pocket money and be with people. I saw the change in my younger son when he finally took a pt job. He just needs more hours they do not have.

Maybe he will get financing from grants and follow through schooling to finding a great position or self employment. Both our boys.

So right Di

I will be thinking of your son too.

And my son had some problems with seizures too, in his younger close
to 18 years. Its what made him drop out of high school, then go
back. A year later.

Its honestly not unusual this mess he is in. I just need to figure out
how to work through this.

Both my son's, The oldest has so much because he is laid off.

I'm sorry that both of you are going through tough times with your sons. I used to have the same fears and worries about my daughter. I always worried what would happen to her after we were gone. She was so dependent on me, especially. I guess God had other plans for her, and now I don't have to worry about her anymore. I hope she is in heaven and realizes just how much both her father and I worried about her. There were always those who were out to take advantage of her kindness. I hope that they rot in hell. God spared her any further heartache and heartbreak.

Jacquie, SHE SURE IS IN HEAVEN... can you her her ?? she is right next to you With your doggie of course !

Donna... I wouldnt be surprised if he is depressed... the world in general is in a sad and depressive position isnt it ?? But, are you "sure" he is depressed ? I ask because you mentioned he doesnt want to go out... did he use to go out frequently ?? I ask because I hate to go to bars or night clubs and Im not depressed... It's just my mood... even when Im high, I wont go to those places for example... I love to stay home... Well, when Im depressed I stay home too for sure but... in bed, crying, light off... hehe... oh well... Just asking

Time to time... he will find a nice job on the field he likes... we just all struggle sometime... JOBS ! ECONOMY !! ugh

Majo

I am not positive he is depressed, he is a stay at home person.

I'm more concerned that he has given up trying to find something it
seems.
