Anytime anyone needs or wants a post edited, just send me a PM to tell me what post, and what you want edited/removed/added and I will be more than happy to edit the post for you.

As a reminder, even when I am not logged into NeuroTalk, I am still able to receive PM's because I have my options here at NT set to email me anytime someone sends me a PM - and my email is open and alerts me to new mail anytime my computer is on (and it's usually on all day long)

So, please feel free to PM me anytime for any reason

Liz

Unhappy i think this edit thing is crummy

by the way, hi everyone

i think this edit limit is crummy.

my "post deletion" runs usually occur when i'm feeling like doo doo and want to hide under the bedcovers and if i could get into the very fibre of the dern covers i probably would, you know? the last thing i'd need would be to have to contact someone to delete my own words, which may bother me despite not being "bothersome" or, vice versa. In any event, in this sort of vulnerable state, in my hidey-hole state, i would not contact anybody, but rather, leave my post(s) there and feel prey to its/their persistence.

ok, that's my own failing... feeling, my own problem. Administration is not responsible for my feelings, obviously. But with this limit i feel much less "safe" about posting. AT ALL. I am currently pretty scarce, due to other things. But should i come to post more, it would affect me... a lot... i'd be afraid to share, period.

i came to know of this change, and see that others are upset by it for various reasons. so i figure mine is as good as any. two cents.

Red face

I agree with you about this...but have to abide by his wishes casue I do like it here. so I guess I have 12 hours to change my mind about my post now...so if I have written something at night when i was on ambien or something I can still delte it the next morning when I am of more sane mind...I wish it was longer like a day.
that would be better.

(((((hugs)))))

I do understand the concerns about the time limit for editing, and I also understand that contacting someone to delete/edit a post when you feel emotionally fragile is not something that anyone wants to do.

I have been sitting here thinking about how we could reach a resolution, so that members feel safe posting here and have a way to have their posts edited/deleted when needed without having to go through the process of contacting someone.

What about the following compromise as a solution - If you are feeling the need to edit or delete your posts but are unable to engage in a discussion with a Moderator or Admin - would you feel comfortable sending one PM to a Mod or Admin with the words "remove my posts".

The Mod or Admin can then move all of your posts to a private area that no one can see (essentially deleting them), but because the posts are moved and not deleted, they could then be restored if/when you choose to return to NT or if/when you would like your posts to be restored... we could also then edit any particular posts that you wish to have edited before they are returned.

This idea has just popped into my head, so I will have to talk to the Admins to make sure that this is something that we can do -- also, before we would implement something like this we would want feedback from members of this forum about whether this idea is good or bad and whether or not you all feel as if this is something that would be helpful without being hurtful.

Would this help this forum (and the members of this forum) to feel more comfortable about the shortened editing time? Would sending one PM with the words "remove my posts" be something that you are comfortable doing? Would you feel more comfortable and safer by having this ability to contact a Mod/Admin in an easier way to have those posts quickly removed? And finally, would you feel comfortable and safer knowing that those posts can be restored if/when you choose, but can also stay removed if that is what you choose?

Please let us know what you think (either here on the forum or via PM) and please feel free to share any other ideas you have to help you feel safer and more comfortable to post with this shortened editing time.

hugs,
Liz

Smile burn on the fly

Liz, hi and thanks i am about half way through your post and sorta scanned the rest but was propelled to say two things sorta paradoxical but so it goes
first i am truly appreciative of the effort and consideration you have put into seeking a good compromise; it is really heartwarming, thank you.
second thing about the em communicating with people or having all stuff moved i.e. noticeable changes em, Zykes! Run Scoob!

oh also i was thinking of this too on my burners which keep shifting i think i am still a bit hypo here or what he bumped down my Z now we'll zee... or not last night no Z's... sigh. see?

so anyway i was thinking what about what Bizi suggested above, i.e. if we could have somewhat more than 12 hours... seems awful short... when i take heavy stuff at times i can be out cold for a full 16 hours. unmedicated i've been out cold longer after days running on air.

it is not an easy thing is it. sigh.

thanks and i return the ((( hugs ))).

~ waves ~ from across the ocean

now i want to reread your post again in case i missed stuff. then i have to sleep or my head will pop off tomorrow and turn into a pumpkin like my jammies are coloured.

((((( waves ))))) Don't be concerned at all, K?

I'll explain (for you and all) start to finish and maybe it will help a bit. I hope it does anyhow... I'm sorry this is upsetting for you.

Let's say you come on one night...horribly upset or maybe even depressed and post something that you'd rather not have there the next day. Just PM a moderator of this forum or myself and we can remove the entire post or edit out what you no longer want public.

Here's another example...you create a thread. You look back a week later and feel that it leaves you feeling too vulerable or tellling. Its existence is upsetting. Just PM and the thread will be moved for you.

We can't go and move all a members posts, or delete them, because it would change history and leave confusion for the readers, but we'll certainly work our hardest to keep you feeling safe here.

Even as an admin, I don't feel comfortable acting on my own threads and I ask others to edit mine. Just last month, I contacted the mod at another site where I'm admin and asked them to move the post because I was in a totally different place the next day and it was painful for me to see. We all do it, and it's OK! Really it is.

We're members too and we know how it is. The reason we've added the limit is because some edits can change history, leave huge "holes" in the community, or another might use it for possibly something that isn't positive.

If you ever want a thread moved, or a post edited, you just PM me anytime you want and say, "KD, will you do this? It don't feel right out there." That's it. You don't have to give a reason or explanation. Now, if you asked me to move 20 of your posts and replace it with "there's a choco hungry monkey on the site", I might ask for the reasoning...hehehe.

Seriously, though, it's OK and you're safe here in having your edits done as you need them. You don't have to explain...just make the request (again, unless it's a high amount or something).

I hope this helps. We really want all to feel comfortable with the mods and admins. We're members and people too...people that care.

KD
