Dear Ginnie, just wanted to start a thread for you to let you know that I am thinking of you in that dentist chair, hoping that he will use sedation for you or find some alternative so that you are not in pain. You mentioned that you now have a diagnosis of bipolar and that you did not know what that meant.
Do you see a psychiatrist? Did he/she put you on a mood stabilizer?
It is 10:30 central time and I don't recall where you live so either you are already in that dentist chair or soon to be.

I believe she said, she is in Florida.

But not sure what time it is there now. Its 11:30 in Indiana, and I'm sending
my thoughts too. I can totally relate. I am a procrastinater when it comes
to the dentist, so much so I usually wait till its infection.

Re: results No matter what I did, it was not enough to save two teeth. Had deep root cleaning, surgery and crowns. My bone deteriorated, and thats that. Have to have them out on Wed. I am on antibiotics now. I have no cavities, took less than ten minutes to clean my teeth. No bleeding gums. One cracked tooth needing a crown. Had been 7 years since I had been in, and the hygentist couldn't believe how clean my teeth were. I guess you can only do your best which I did. I will have to be braver on Wed. They do not do put to sleep kind, only injections which I don't take very well. The dentist who I use to go to, wanted $200 to be seen, and $400 extra for sleep kind. I just couldn't afford the sedation. It will cost $500 for the extractions as it is. When I pay that off, I will get a partial, then another crown. I wish there would have been some way to prevent this, He said it wasn't my fault. I get medicare and medicaid, so all of it is so very expensive to me. When I had my job, well I went in very regular and did all the necessary work. Now I must be brave for on Wed. I would have liked the sedation, but I will take an extra zanax! ginnie

Yes I got through today, and posted to you bizi private. I am on antibiotics until Wed. and have two teeth out like I knew I would have to. I had always had sedation before so I have to do this with just injections. I am not good with them at all. I have zanax and a friend to drive me on Wed. Couldn't do it today because my spinal fusion was so recent. Bacteria problem would not be good. The new Dr. was kind and gentle, and I hope the surgeon is on Wed. I had no cavities, no gum bleeding, but I still had the bone loss around these two problem teeth. they have been trouble all my life. Had deep root cleaning, surgery and crowns, and it did not stop the bone loss. They could offer no explanation on why it happened.
Yes I have been diagnosed as by polar by my PCP. I am on zoloft now and it seems to be working. My psychologist however isn't so sure I am by polar. I don't get really wild mood swings, but I cry easily and am depressed over my family abandoning me after taking family monies. They left me destitute. My son told me to get out of his house when I asked him for help on the PC. He got depressed over the last year, and turned into this person I don't know. He quit his job, and won't give me the time of day. The depression he has, changed him into something that is nothing like he use to be. Combine that with all the health issues, and I turned into a train wreck. Thats kinda where I am at. I need you all very much. I am so grateful to be in a place where there is kindness and support. You guys are my family now. I don't feel so alone. I knew this morning that prayers were being said for me. It got me through today. thank you bizi ginnie

Hi dmom, Yeh I just found the thread. thanks bizi for starting it. I still am getting use to this site. I know about procrastanation too dmom, it took me 7 years to get back to the dentist. I also had 8 surgeries in 8 years, so the teeth took the back seat. I have a phobia about dentists. I was sick to my stomach just going there. The post will explain the rest.
I do live in Florida, west coast. thank you for caring about me too dmom, don't wait the 7 years before you go back in. I will sedate myself for Wed. thats for sure! thank you so much for your support. I need you all very much ginnie

It wont be 7 years, but its been a couple since I've been.
I will make it back. But like you its taken a back burner to other
doctors. And still has too. I have to see all the others for now,
till we have health insurance again.

Luckily Derrick still has medicaid, and I have to find him a new dentist.

So I need to get that done. He has a few cavities we were getting
filled when we lost insurance. They don't do the medicaid.

Hi dmom, I am using a credit card. I am on medicare/medicaid. The health dept. with dozens waiting was my only other choice. They don't treat, or fix, they just pull teeth and out the door you go. I could not go that direction. I wanted the right kind of dr. in case I develope infection. My immune system is faulty and just going to the health dept. is full of risk. so I put it on credit card. I didn't know what else to do. there is nothing for people who are poor who need help. I called dozens of drs. nobody helps the poor. I had no health insurance when I fell apart. It took my life savings, and that of my parents for me. I had a pre-existing condition and could never GET insurance to begin with. There are some things that just stink, and this is one of them. Health cost all I worked for my whole life. life isn't fair is it? Hope you get insurance soon, so you can go to the dentist. ginnie
