I was given the same advice Mari. I have blue blocker glasses. I have a blue blocker lightbulb in the lamp in my bedroom (it's amber colored). I have a blue blocker plexiglass that is velcroed in front of my tv in my bedroom.

I stayed up until after midnight wrapping Christmas gifts. It had to be done, we are exchanging Christmas gifts at my grandma's tomorrow, so I couldn't put it off any more. At around 9pm all I wanted to do was sleep, but of course after all that now I can't. I forgot to take my melatonin uuurg. Since 12:15 I took a sonata, a xanax, and a visteril. It's 2 am now and I just took another xanax. I'm afraid to take anything else. I am anxious about the next couple of days, getting together with family, etc. Hope to get sleepy soon. Had to get on the laptop because I can't just lay here with my mind swirling. That reminds - anyone know of a good guided meditation or positive affirmations I could buy on itunes and put on my ipod for times like this?

Default iPod -- fifteen min recording

Hi,
This is the one I use:

http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Mu.../dp/B0040MTXS4

There are others that I downloaded but this one is working for me now.
Sometimes I fall asleep in the first five minutes.
Other nights it plays twice. When the third time starts (a half hour) i get up and try to do something else.

Thank ya'll. Sleep is hit and miss. I had my parents over for dinner last night and it went well. That was the last of my Christmas obligations/festivities so I'm relieved.

I was going to sleep in a new pair of pajamas that my mother gave me, but I couldn't find them last night. My house looks like a bomb went off. New toys, packaging, empty boxes, instruction manuals everywhere. I counted 6 loads of laundry that need to be done and I have done 0. I can't take a step without stepping on anything - toys, blankets, pillows, etc. And yet here I sit on this forum, and I just got off of facebook. It's like I've got so much to do I'm paralyzed. At nights I can't sleep thinking about all I have to do. But I have been very unproductive today so it's my own fault. We didn't have school today and I guess I just wanted a day off, too. The holidays have taken so much out of me.

Butterfly,

It is not ever anyone's fault. It just IS.

Choose one easy task and start with that. Maybe do ONE load of laundry or pick up 10 things from the floor.

The pajamas will turn up and you will see them when they are ready to be seen.

I think the key is a sleep diary, it will help you to understand what are the things affecting your sleeping patterns, then you can modify them and find what works best for you. Everyone is different, I know personally my sleep issues where down to stress and an unresolved issue, once that was decided all of a sudden my sleep pattern went back to normal.

Even though I hate doing it, I went ahead and took an Ambien last night. I slept from 8:30 last night until 6am this morning. Hallelujah! I have done 3 loads of laundry so far and have made progress at putting things where they go. I still feel tired but at least I am more productive than yesterday. I found my pajamas and washed them. I am hoping to get another good night's sleep tonight. I feel depressed and I know sleep will help me get perspective.
