Oh by the way. When it's freezing cold like this, the air is dry. If you have sinus issues like me,I have a idea for you.

Fill a large pot with water, and let it simmer. This will re-moisten the air inside the house. There will be less static, and your sinuses will be better off.

A good internet site for weather forecasts is..........................................
National Weather Service Forecast Office....and then click on your area. This is a site that I go to when I'm wondering about the weather. BF

I agree Steve, our mountain air is so dry all winter I pack on moisturizer to warn off the rocesea flare up. I have a whole house humidifier I paid $70, it's a Holmes, back in 2000. I get a new wick/filter every year.

The kids do get such dry sinuses in the winter I just run it all winter. It's below zero in the city with a wind chill of -20*. I am leaving in a few minutes to run down my sons. He has to work at he airport 5:00am and dgs school is closed. They only had one day since Dec. 20th.

Ugh, his pipes were frozen, he had to crawl under before work to thaw them out. Thank goodness it worked. I guess the newer faucets safe water feature turns off the dripping after awhile. I'll have to stay awake and keep them running.

Keep warm my southern friends. Into the Arctic blast I go.

HI, Di,

I cannot believe you had to go out in the cold even before the sun comes up.

Be well.

Yup Steve, that polar vortex is suppose to be above the Arctic circle. a piece of it broke off and it bubbled down to the south above US. I wonder if its related to why my cousin in Australia is have record high 100* temps? It's suppose to move back up attaching to where it belongs after today.
This weekend we'll have our thaw! Up in the 50's*!

Ds got his pipes thawed before work. That was scary, I was afraid for them to burst. Last Friday was actually colder at -9, but it is just below 0* now with a wind chill of -31*.

Gosh Steve, we are use to rediculous weather..
But I worry about all the friends in the south that don't have the tolerance. Your homes don't need insulation like ours, the alternate heating sources we have like coal and wood burners in case power goes off too.

Yes Mari, I just put mt Cabellas heavy coat on, boots, not even mittens and headed out. I did drive the short distance so the wind would not take my breath away.

Donna, how are you making out? You had the snow for days on end to deal with too. I am so glad we did not have any snow since Friday.

Weare at -12 feels like -35, but had we still hadthesnow on the ground it would be up to10* lower!!!! Wow
Be safe, warm up is around the corner.

Default Hi BF

32, and it is cold! Florida did not escape damage. All plants in danger, all crops. Never seen this kind of cold down here period. I have covered as many plants as I can, but this whole island is going to be doing a lot of spring pruning to see what remains. This is considered tropical, but it sure doesn't feel like it. This vortex is quite a thing, more like a winter hurricane.
Stay warm Steve and all of you up north. ginnie
