About the headache-with-face-jabs, he didn't say much. I asked if I should just see if it happens again (:o) and he kind of nodded. Oh, he did add, finally, that for that kind of problem, he would suggest indomethacin first thing. So that was useful. And thinking about it now, I might deduce from that that he suspected more than a migraine. Wish I'd thought of it while I was there -- I would have cornered him for a confirmation.

He got up in arms about the reflux. He wants me to have a gastroscopy -- whenever I am ready. I said go ahead and script it since it takes ages to get appointments. He gave me a PPI which I was going to request anyway, so, for now, that's ok.

Waves,

I am still up as it goes.

Good job on that. I do that sometimes -- kind of ask another question incase he comes up with something a little more specific.

Excellent about the gastroscopy. You might not have gotten that without being in his office so close to the last time you were in his office.

He gave this to without asking? Cool. You probably felt more validated/empowered than you have in the past.

Did you get the Gabapentin and did you need an Indomethacin 'script as well?

Oh no... this is just from his reading what the ENT wrote up from the rhinoscopy. This is also why he shoved a PPI at me. (I never even got to the point of mentioning my indomethacin/PPI concern). I am actually having symptoms I hadn't paid much attention to, but which probably require attention: I went and picked up the PPI this morning. I will take it, and I will try not to use indomethacin unless desperate.

I am relieved that he was in serious mode about the GI stuff. Some things he seems to blow off, or consider optional. Or it might be about mood, or what he thinks is "normal" for what age. My mother has high blood pressure and he says it's "fine". He pretty much blew it off when I complained of chest pain (which, hello, could actually boil down to the reflux problems!)

He gave me the gabapentin scripts I asked for (300's and 100's). I described trying it and asked if ok to continue with it while things are worked out, he said ok and asked which strength I used. I'm good on indomethacin -- have plenty, script good.

Thank you, Mari. I'm sorry I was so late in replying. I ended up having a blend of stomach and head problems yesterday evening, and basically crashed.

Today is better, so far. :)

I hope you have a beautiful day today. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...fc/surfing.gif

Waves,

Thank you for that.

He should not do the garbage about what he thinks is normal for a certain age.

Keep taking care of your health business. :):):):)

Right. It's garbage. But he does it.

Thanks, yes. I am. I'm starting to think even the nervous problems might trace back to the refllux... It's funny, Lara asked about reflux, and I said oh no, no, can't possibly be that!:o:D

I do think it would have to be indirect. The ENT already said the GI stuff wouldn't cause occasional lacrimation. But now I'm thinking what if the nerves got involved... could go something like this: Chronic local inflammation at throat/pharynx/palate --> trigeminal nerve overstimulation --> referred sensations in other branches of trigeminal nerve (side of nose/eye). Maybe. A very big maybe. I'll ask if this is biologically possible (I don't know). I'm going to work hard to fix the reflux issue, and see what falls out (never know).

Life is kind of on hold in the meantime.

It probably shouldn't be, but I feel so awkward about job-seeking on a good day. With the actual migraines and nasty stuff hitting, it really raises the bar. And I do mean even when I'm not actually lying in the dark with an icepack. I mean, the fact of this mysterious paresthesia or hyperesthesia and the apparently aggravated migraine incident, and the unpredictability of it all --- that's what is throwing me off the most.

Anyway. I am officially leaving that be a bit, until I get the CT back and hear what the docs (both ENT and GP) have to say. Meantime I'll get used to the gabapentin which makes me a little goofy still. It isn't even doing a whole lot... we shall see.

Upset about knee

My knee is bothering me too, when I lie in bed. That kind of makes me feel decrepit. :( Doctor said I could live with it as-is since I'm not an athlete, I just "notice it". I was hoping the noticing would subside but I don't see that happening because it does hurt if I put it in certain postions (like cross my legs, which I do habitually).

I don't see having it done though, since it doesn't bother me walking or doing most things. Recovery is typically 8 months, but for me it would be more. I also risk not regaining full use of the knee because of how low the muscle mass already is (I am decrepit) and especially my general failure to exercise -- indispensable before and after a ligament reconstruction.

Without surgery, I'm still supposed exercise to rebuild strength... I'm not even doing that. :( Bad patient. Very bad.

This is another area where I'm really not doing what I need to do. Like the work situation, my lack of action (exercise) is causing me suffering. :(

I need to work on this as much as I do on the work/job.

i am sorry that your knee is bothering you.:(

Waves I'm sorry about your knee. Try to make sure that you get shoes that have a cushioning affect while walking on hard concrete surfaces. I have tried these new shoe inserts that cushion my ankle when I walk. It's good for the knees.

Going for a walk, and swimming is better then jogging for your knee health in the future. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Bizi and Steve,

Thank you both. :grouphug:

Steve,

Thankfully, I do have good shoes.

There are isometric exercises I should be doing. THese are the same exercises that are prescribed after knee surgery. They strengthen muscle surrounding/supporting the knee. They don't help because I don't do them. Nor do I walk and I cannot run at all because that hurts.

Brokenfriend 06-26-2014 12:32 PM

I know that I should be exercising to. I do very little. BF:hug::hug::hug:

next life task: get computer fixed

I need to try working on my "life" again.

I put things on hold becauuse of too much medical stuff, and that's fair enough, but I need to resume... in more ways than one.

I need to call the computer store, tell them about the keyboard problem, and ask how they will proceed to analyze-resolve the problem. Based on what they say I need to prep the machine to take it in.

I probably shouldn't bother trying to set up a temporary laptop for internet. It will just be one more task over which to drag my feet -- it could ultimately cost me a lot more time (all spent in "foot-dragging" and tv-watching).

I won't die without internet for a few days or a week, but I don't want that to happen when I could potentially get replies from job applications, so I need to get this out of the way. Times like this have me craving a smartphone but... no income, no fancy technotoys for me.
