More o' my stuff

Well, I pulled everything out of the stuffed cupboard during the night, after all.

No test results. I believe I got to everything in there that could possibly have harbored them. Everything else is not paper or was "too deep".

The former white space on my table now has this big box of paper products on it, surrounded by smaller boxes and random drippings of pencils, tools, and whatnot. The spread of whatnots extends to the adjacent armchair.

=====================
I recycled/tossed some paper, packaging materials, magazines and such.
---------------------------

Among the odds and ends, I found:

-- A couple of return receipts from the Franchise Tax Board, ie., CYAs multiple decades old. Shred.

-- Bills and an old optical prescription. Ono. Morfiling. :o:rolleyes:

-- Various older generations of bus tickets, used and non. Kept because I liked the designs on them. Will try to toss. Maybe. We'll see.

-- Chess pieces. These are not packed in the garage? Hmm. For all the chess I play, they should be.

-- A handwritten letter to a friend, dated 2010, never mailed. It began with, "Here I am again, don't kill me." Whatever had I done?

-- A beautiful burlap bag. It has no flap, string, or fastener. I have no use for it. But it's so cool. Mental note to conjure something baggable in burlap.

-- Plastic tubing and plumbing tidbits. Ehh... yeah, whatever. Set aside.

-- Way too many cute, cleverly assembled gift bag-boxes. I forced myseelf to recycle most. One was very sturdy, well finished, with a velcro fastener and tiny bow. I felt despicable as I mercilessly stripped its velcro and decorative silk... so I could dump it. Ah, but at least I've told its sad tale.

-- Bungy cord. Prolly should be stored elsewhere. But where. Oooh. A burlap bag, maybe?

And one really cool find:

-- An 8" plastic stick, fashioned in the shape of a giant wooden match. :D I found a flip switch on the side and... click, whoa! The thing makes fire! Weeee! A super cool giant lighter. (It is for gas stovetops, not cigarettes).

===================
I take it back about this being easier. There is too much "miscellaneous" stuff in here. :o

Now that sounds like a stuff drawer hard to know what to do with stuff!

Mari,

I am glad you had a laugh. Believe me, I laughed at some of the stuff as it came outta there myself. :):D

So, everything remains splayed out in my no longer clear area. And wow, I really did it this time. I am having to keep my computer on the bed, even when I sleep. Because setting it atop the box with irregular protruding stuff seems a bit precarious.

Anyway. That's ok. I am feeling a bit dense because I am a bit more sleep-deprived than usual. This morning, rather than go to bed, I had the brilliant idea to make lunch for everyone. But as I set about that, I also thought why not make an appetizer for tonight (pate) using last night's leftovers. Between the cooking, eating, more cooking and washing up, I was awake till almost 3, then had to get up at 6 to assemble the little hors d'ouvres thingies in time for dinner. Not inclined to sleep just now, but also not inclined to mess with the mess. I believe when I do sleep though, I'll probably be out cold for a while.

I hope you too can manage to get some good sleep today.

Waves,

You got a lot done and you tossed a lot.
What are you calling a cupboard (to eat ice cream on).

I wonder if it is the same as my idea of a cupboard -- a thing upon one cannot eat anything.
Unless it is something in this shape but not exactly like this. And excuse my ignorance.

Anyway, keep doing things and thinking things that are working for you including drinking coffee according to when it suits you/agrees with you.

No, not usually. Although my cat useed to spend a considerable amount of time sleeping up on top of the kitchen cabinets. :D But as to the icecream, I said "in". It was a silly reference to the icecream-eating icon you posted (hence my blue arrow to it):-

You did great.

Thanks. I am looking forward to having room for icecream in that stuffed cupboard. :D;)

That looks like a much more complicated wall unit with a built-in countertop. I would think of each cubby-hole in there as a "cupboard". I don't know what I'd call the entire thing. Maybe I'd also call it a cupboard, for lack of a better word, and because it is one piece. Maybe the French have a nice name for it.

However, this does inadvertently open a can of worms. My "cupboards" or "cabinets" are technically modular office storage units. Those I've been working with (the file one, and the stuffed one) are the middle two in a tower of 4.

Imagine a 4 shelf, double-depth book case, with each "shelf" having a set of doors. I think of each unit (cubbyhole-with-doors) as a cabinet/cupboard, in terms of putting my stuff in it.

O.K. Thank you. That makes sense.

Take care.

Here we'd call it a kitchen dresser.

Le buffet de la cuisine. ;)

They're very popular again these days. Like the one Mari posted.
People doing them up and selling them for fortune. Shabby chic and all that.
