I really appreciate that you've taken the time to walk through this process with me.

Sometimes these are the hardest ones for me. It depends.
In reference to the things "not in categories", yes. Definitely the hardest for me.

I usually make a miscellaneous pile, so I can defer this thinking. This time, my personal/leisure pile gathered miscellaneous moss, so I'll have to weed some things back out. Some sort of a "miscellaneous" file will remain: the best I've ever been able to do is keep it small.

For now, I have tucked things out of immediate sight (under tables and things), so I can enjoy the rarity of having whitespace on the table :D, while I recoup. I still have empty folders piled on my bed too, which I am ignoring. :rolleyes:

This is going to sound odd, but it is "going to turn up."
It is around. You just can't see it right now.

It couldn't have gotten into either recycling or shredidng pile without passing through my hands, and I didn't see it at all. Haven't in a few years. The recycling is gone. The shredding bag looks to be all single sheets... the shredder can only take a few sheets at once, so there will be an implicit check there.

Another cabinet that needs sorting/weeding contains a lot of cards, stationery, correspondence, and manuscripts (paper stuff). There's a small chance it might have been "set down" in there and gotten buried. Perhaps in a few days I'll have the energy to go through it.

Failing that, I will go to the hospital and see if I can request a copy. They might not have one. I can't remember if it was hand-written or typed.

I might have been upset enough about these results to toss the sheet. That's very improbable, but so are all other remaining possibilities.

That is the same as finding gold.
It was. I was elated... even as happy as I was when I found my black rhinestone decorated baseball cap, when I cleared out the clothing cabinet for the shoes... and that's saying something.

It has been a tough week. Mostly mentally. I was a little surprised about how much I got done, especially how much got tossed. But very pleased. :):):)

Thanks, Bizi. Yes. I am braindead now. I have to continue with it, but need a pause, and some sleep. Today I did not even cook. I slept a few hours of the morning, and then a few more in the afternoon.

With only 2 weeks left in August, I also need to get back to the studying, perhaps using that to "break" from sorting my stuff, instead of playing games. I am not sure if that is laziness or tiredness or resistance... or some combination.

And to be honest, it was quite frightening, the idea of working and juggling bureaucratic/medical stuff in my spare time with things in such a mess. So this is kind of important to the whole working/life big picure. ... if I want to rationalize it some way. Lol.

Anyway, it is a relief that my papers are more organized, whatever happens next.

More stuff to go through?? :confused:
Are you ready to stop soon? This does not have to be all or nothing.
(Unless you want to continue the roll you are on of course.)
That cabinet does not sound critical and it seems to mostly contain items that are known ---except of course the possibility of the file.

Yes. Or not. Evaluate and decide if you are done for now. Or pick one or two things that will help bring this to resolution.

Is it o.k. if I laugh about this? I might do something like that.
Kind of a forget about it because I don't want to see it again.

I seriously need to see a picture of that. :D:D: :cool:

When things are cleared we have a clearer head.
And when cluttery stuff is gone, we have freed up space for good things to come into our space and our lives.:icecream:

You did great.

It won't be, but everything is a real mess to where I can't get at things, which is upsetting.

I listed only the kinds of things that could camouflage the missing file. That cupboard has the world in it. Moreover, that world has expanded so much, and gotten so tangled, that I can barely squirrel a few fingers in there to dig any more. If it got any more critical it would explode. :eek:

I don't expect it to be as hard as the files, because files have a high information density that requires tons of processing per cubic inch, if you know what I mean.
======== progress parenthesis ========
I mostly tied up loose ends with the filing. I cleaned under the desk this evening, and put both filing boxes there. I piled the files that didn't fit inside them on top of them, so the area under the desk looks much as it did before :(:rolleyes:, even if everything is organized and clean. For as many cubic inches of stuff as I threw away, I deserved to recover more space than this. Sigh. I'll need to figure out a better placement solution, but I'm all thunked out on this for now.

The cupboard I cleaned out with the files now contains a little of what was in it before, some stuff that was lying around, and a box of clothes that was under the desk.
==================================
Maybe tomorrow or day after, I will tackle the stuffed cupboard. I guess I am on a roll, somewhat. :) I'd do it now, but I'm afraid to make noise. There are clunky things in there.

Exactly! I remember sitting and looking at it, and thinking things that would get starred out if I typed them. I had an urgent drive to get that thing out of my sight/mind, and I did something with it. Beats me what. I probably stuck it somewhere... stuffed it into some cranny. Beats me where. But I really might have thrown it out. Really, because I waaas upset!

Do you mean the black cap with the rhinestones? I can do that. I owe a few people pix. I need to hijack a phone with a decent camera though. Although my phone might be ok for that. Takes crappy selfies, or maybe that is my fault.

Thanks. I am looking forward to having room for icecream in that stuffed cupboard. :D;)
