Hi, Lara,

I looked it up and then got overwhelmed.
Triclosan has several different names

The Canadians are going to revisit the issue in 2015.
The EU has banned most of it:

In the US our toothpastes are mostly free of it except for Colgate but it is in other products

Toothpaste
Mouthwash
Other hiding places:
Quote:

Certain brands of deodorant list triclosan as an ingredient, including some Old Spice and Speedstick products.

Gillette Complete Skincare Multigel Aerosol Shave Gel also lists triclosan as an ingredient.

The chemical's a mainstay in certain cosmetics, as well: Triclosan lurks in some mascara, eye shadow, and even lipsticks, including Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor products. The same holds true for some skin cleansers and acne products.
Your country has more concern for the environment then we do.

Thanks, Lara.

I'll check mine to see if it has Triclosan in it.

I know that it is used in mouthwashes here. :o

Thanks Mari and bizi,
Yes, you've reminded me of the antibacterial soap issue.

I knew I had a post in the TS forum about it so went looking.
There are actually lots of posts across many different forums here about the Triclosan.

I don't think we're doing a good job caring for our environment either.

thanks for that link. Interesting.

I thought of you, Waves, with all the mouth problems.
Might be something to steer away from.
I read an article just before from the EU about banning certain products containing Triclosan but I think the ingredient needs to contain a certain percentage for them to ban it.

my crest doesn't list its ingredients how are we to know if it has triclosan in it?

bizi,
I just did a search.

I asked " Does Crest toothpaste have Triclosan"

The company website says No.

bizi, on the very bottom of their website it says that all Crest products are 100% triclosan free.

Edited to add: It's actually a Banner at bottom of site.

I was looking at the pro-health page when I posted earlier, but I just re-checked and it's all of them they say.
