Sister should be more supportive.

Information is not necessarily helpful on the night before a procedure.

Geeezh!

--------------

Keep going through the steps and motions of what you have to do to show up in the morning.
They will take care of you . .. . and the doctor will do what he/she is supposed to do and then you will get driven home.

Take it easy the rest of the day Monday.

Default take care of yourself.

Bizi,

Confrontation is about challenging/clashing with someone.
That is not what you are doing.

I'd call it confrontation, or challenge, or conflict, when a doctor says, "Do this," and we say, "I don't want to because...", regardless of whether it is done nicely or not.

Sometimes, it is necessary to say no. At times a "no" can be replaced with strategic questions to bring the other person around. Other times, it is simpler for everyone to be direct, and just get the goods on the table. This doesn't mean one must be rude, insulting, or even aggressive, but it does mean one must be assertive.

It's funny, because I've never taken the word "confrontation" to imply aggression, and yet, I've always taken the word "non-confrontational" to mean "without aggression". How's that for coherence. Lol.

Saying this:

"No, I am not going to take that med" is not confrontation.
I am not trying to clash with anyone. I am treating myself well.
I love and know myself more than anyone else does.
When I act with care for my needs, I feel comfortable about the communication.

That is all.

Wars have been fought over people who love themselves protecting themselves and their rights. They aren't trying to clash... but are brought to a conflict by a difference of opinion.

When a doctor tells you to do something, it generally is not a request. Know the expression "doctor's orders"? Telling them "no", regardless of one's motives, and regardless of one's relative comfort doing it, is, IMHO, a confrontation.

That is how I see it, but I will happily agree to disagree on the term "confrontation" and its use.

The point remains:

Bizi is uncomfortable with [pick your favorite term to indicate the interaction where she tells the doctor "no"].

thanks you guys for your support.
My sister was left out of the loop when she found out on facebook that I was having a colonoscopy...its family and friends and probably TMI...oh well. she was wanting to share her experiences to help me thru mine.
I did find out this morning that I had a surgeon do the procedure and that this was not a surgical facility that IF I needed to have surgery to remove a mass it would be a different day and location...i think.
my scope came out clean though I was still "not clear" this am so had to have an enema at the last minute. He wrote a script for a pill for chronic constipation so I am hoping that this helps me. I wonder if I have a new doctor now who I have to see in order to get refills, he gave me 3 refills. maybe my regular doctor can write those scripts for me?
now I need to lie down I have alot of gas to get rid of and was up last night...like I thought that I would be 12,2,5;30, then 7...so I am tired.
hubby just left for a meeting of sorts not sure about that.
Had a cup of coffee right after procedure int he post op room which I was very grateful for. then went to "breakfast and I had a big biscuit plain it was yummy and sweet, plain mashed potatoes and a cup of mushy steamed brocolli, perfect.

Best sleep I ever had was the procedure. I had no polyps, dh did have few small ones with his. I took a drink you mix and drank through a straw, the second quart of it I threw up, I couldn't get anything down. I got through the night and was all clean.
The gas gave me cramps and I chewed the beano, it helped instantly.
Recoup quick!

Good luck on your test Bizi, start of the year focus on the parts of health you can.

Wow, I sure missed a lot. Glad it went well Bizi.

I have had many of these test. I can't do the liquid
they give anymore. So not sure how it will be done next
time. I throw the mix up after about 1/3 to 1/2 of it.
